You keep talking about Detroit being afraid of the luxury. If they were so afraid of the luxury, why did they just add one of the top 5 biggest contracts in the NBA?
Why do you think they added Blake? To put people in the stands because he's a star.
Why would they want to add Hood right now? To put people in the stands because he helps them win more than Kennard.

1. They arent in the luxury tax after the trade was completed, or am I missing something?
2. I told you why they did the Blake deal. Business. They needed someone to make the team exciting.
3. Hood isnt putting anyone in the stands.

I'm pretty sure i'm 100% right. They arent dealing Hood for Kennard straight up. If the Pistons wanted to, Utah would have already done it. SVG isnt exactly a guy who sits there and is a master negotiator. He is a straight talker, its why Detroit has always done trades prior to the deadline unlike most teams who wait til the last 24 hrs.

Why would you think that was a possibility? Chicago loudly said they wanted a first round pick above everything else.
 
At what point is Hood not better than a 1st round pick? I don't know what was and what wasn't a possibility. But Tony Jones is a pretty straight shooter with this stuff and doesn't make things up. He only reports when he gets a solid source and he's saying it's been verified Chicago is interested in Hood, so I just tossed out there that if it were a possibility I'd be very disappointed if we didn't do it.

One thing I do feel confident in is that for most of this season the Jazz have seemed to overvalue Hood.

You always think you are 100% right even when proven wrong. But that's a sidenote.

#1 - They aren't a luxury team now but acquiring Blake without shedding more contracts knowingly forces their hand toward the luxury. Yes, they aren't there now but they know what they got into giving two guys $60+.
#2 - Blake makes them more exciting. Yes. We both agree.
#3 - If Hood helps them win, wins lead to attendance. I've made that point many times which you don't seem to get.

We don't know if the Pistons would trade Kennard for Hood. You don't know, I don't know, only they know. I would be willing to bet that most fans would consider a straight swap of Hood for Kennard a bad trade for us since Hood is proven and Kennard isn't.
 
Chicago Detroit and Oklahoma City are all expressing interest. Do they have anything we want?
 
There were reports Philly is looking for help on the wing and mentioned Tyreke Evans. Would think Hood is a better fit and has more future value to them, but who knows.

Chicago - the ability to absorb Burks but no 2nd rounder the next two years
Detroit - Kennard or Stanley Johnson and draft considerations or a future 1st (2020 or later)
OKC - Terrance Fergusen and/or way off in the future 1st rounders

So really, not many easy solutions here. OKC extremely unlikely.
 
No doubt DL is also working on 3-team trade scenarios where we get a 1st from Team A, we send Hood to Team B, and Team B sends a player to team A. Atlanta and Philly and maybe even Phoenix would most likely be team A.

Bro, why teh **** do you keep whiffing on the cost-side of all this? I mean, you can see for yourself that the league likely values Hood at about the same level as Mirotic, right? Ok, then you can probably imagine the advantage of re-signing such an asset next off-season rather than the one after that.

Easy enough. But now let's imagine the scenario where NOLA is cash-strapped and we can take Mitotic this off-season for a cost significantly less than what he just fetched... which is very likely as far as possibilities are concerned.

Or maybe you just need something to *** ache over. I dunno.
