It might be really nice to have that down the line when money starts becoming an issue. I'm all for any future firsts, personally. As long as they don't default to second rounders I would be in.
I mostly agree. Wherever the FO finds them, we should be hoping they re-stock the cupboards after Haywood's departure. He kinda left and took a few things with him.

I would only add that I think they should get a guaranteed 1st that conveys sometime in the next three drafts.

Honestly, would you trade Hood and Burks for Jabari Parker right now? I would.... Think about it for second:

- The Bucks offered Jabari $18 million per year for just 3 years and he said no and chose to take his busted knee into RFA.
- What happens if the Bucks don't budge on that? Parker wants more or if he wants more than 3 years?
- If we offered Parker $25 per year for 4 years the first day of free agency, would the Bucks match considering having to re-sign Middleton, Brogdon, Bledsoe and others soon? Many reports say they might not match.

So, if we were to trade Hood and Burks to Chicago for expirings and their 2nd rounder (projected top 35-38), it could mean that we are able to enter the Parker sweepstakes. Shedding Burks could lead us to Parker contention.

Do I think Parker is our missing piece? No. Do I think he's worth the gamble over bringing back Hood and paying Burks next year? Absolutely.

I think Bucks know Parker will get a MAX offer and wont be able to match without being in salary cap hell.

My guess is theyve brought him back as a way of showcasing him before the deadline.

I think we can all agree Hood isnt having his best year (even though statistics say otherwise).

If we manage to get Hood at anywhere near $10Mil/yr, that contract is worth far more than a mid 1st.

Hood is bound to have a breakout year and having him on a cheap deal could pay off big for us in the future.

Hood is gone. The cloud that would hang over his restricted free agency would be terrible. If we wait to match a rfa deal, there could be bad blood.

Just deal him for an asset and dump Burks' deal in the process.

They can limit their LT bill next year by stretching Teletovic. They can then move one of Middleton, Bledsoe, or Brogdon with a bad deal to limit the affect. In 2019 they can't bring all those guys back anyway. They would do well to play it by ear until some actually maxes Parker... unless they get something really good right now.

He won't get that much. I only want him if he is a great bargain so it'd have to be MLE type money.

I think you have to look at the value of the contract over the period of the whole contract rather than just this first year. If the difference is 2% of the cap or something like that to keep him then you do it. Buy low. The lack of cash isn't going to last forever. When all those humongous contracts start coming off the books there's going to be a lot of buyers.

Why... we could go to him and make him a fair offer... up to him to decline and if his agent finds something better we match. Not that big of a deal.

All logic a month ago would have said that we had a fantastic young nucleus that included a young wing like Hood. For some reason we don't know, the FO does not want Hood here long term. There is no other reason why we would have shopped him out of the clear blue sky a month ago. Hood or the FO or both want a split. There is no other reasonable explanation.

All speculation. None of us really know ****. Just trying to read between the lines.

I think all of DLs desicions are based on 18/19 Free Agency and not having a penny more on the books than needed. Hood at anymore than $15Mil/yr starts to restrict his options.

Never say there is no other reasonable explanation... that's just bad.

Maybe Hood was part of the Niko trade negotiations but it never panned out. He could still be moved... but if it is for Stanley Johnson straight up... I'd rather just take my chances in FA.

We don't publicly shop players unless they are "out of favor". That's not our style. Listening to offers is one thing but shopping is different.
