What's new

Where is that pit bull thread when I need it?

Oh I knew since he disagreed with you, regardless of his knowledge or understanding of the breed, that he was instantly wrong. No question there.

There are obviously plenty of idiots who claim to crop dogs' ears for looks, and disregard the original purpose for cropping ears.

It doesn't change the reason cropped ears were invented, or the fact that they are still called "battle crop" in a lot of instances.

Like I said, a gun is still a gun, even if you claim to only buy it for looks.

What if it's a chocolate gun?

I love how you're now totally avoiding the fact that cropping ears, and in turn, the ears themselves, can in no way, shape or form be referred to as a weapon, according to the definitions you provided. Good job. These are not an instrument or tool used for attack or defenses purposes.

How do you know his level of knowledge or understanding? For that matter, how do you know mine? I don't claim to be an expert, but you haven't posted any credentials that show your quote is from an expert either.

I can tell you this much, if he is denying that cropped ears were originally done for fighting purposes then he is certainly no expert. In fact, he is a moron. I don't know if he is saying that or not, so calm down. If you are claiming I said he was wrong (or that he disagreed with me), when all I said is they were invented for fighting purposes regardless if anyone thinks they look cool or not, then I have to assume this guy disagrees.

I know this much, his absurd claim that fighting pit bulls don't get their ears cropped is flat out false. A quick google image search for "fighting pit bull" has the vast majority of dogs that are obvious fighters (scars) with cropped ears.

You guys want to know why they crop the ears? Here you go:

That dog is biting the other dog's cheek. Why don't they crop cheeks?

I'm a huge dog lover, I find that photo gruesome and offensive. Pretty sure everyone here understood you were saying that they had cropped ears so they didn't get them bit in a fight, the photo of it happening was uneccesary.

Stradivarius, I'll see your pic of two mongrels with cropped ears fighting and raise you 2 pics of famous, fighting pit bulls without cropped ears or docked tails.

Right, because I said every dog that ever fought had cropped ears...

Looks like Colby's Tige may have cropped ears in your picture anyway.

There are many types of cropped ears.

let's forget the bull....
how bout we just talk about pits?

I can think of a few we could discuss - cherry, peach, olive...
And then there's the good old conversation pit, they were all the rage at one time. Make-out central!!! I don't think I've heard anyone talk about those since the early 80's.
Yes, I think pits are a much better topic of conversation.

Wasn't the Peach Pit a popular place in the 90's?

I like the Pita Pit. Good pitas. I enjoy their tzatziki sauce.
