What's new

Where's all the Burks Hate Now? ? ?

I think he's been blocked and turned the ball over more than he's scored, but I don't hate the kid for not having much ability.

He had a good game in LA, but an inconsistent pre-season.

I still believe hes going to have a really good year for us, even with the ups and downs.

He's just a good role player in the rotation till he fixes his outside shot.
I don't consider him part of the "core" yet. We have a core-3 with Burks and Burke PERHAPS adding to that. But I honestly think one or both of them will be gone in the next couple of years. I could see Burks being used in a trade either at the deadline or during the offseason to acquire a better veteran. Depending on who the Jazz get in the draft, that could be a starting SF (if we're not able to get Wiggins or Parker).

I deny you! Go Sexy Seven!!

This. Plus poor decision making. And not the ******** "but he has to carry the second team so he's really perfect". He just makes poor decisions enough that I have to wonder about his basketball IQ.

I've taken more **** than anyone on here over the years for my view on young NBA players. The NBA is unique to professional sports in that the vast majority of talented players show it their very first year, with a small portion breaking out their 2nd or 3rd years. There are very few exceptions to this rule, as shown by the D-League not developing players [despite Corbin's refusal to do whatever the fans wish of him].

Burks does some things well but will never become more than an afterthought. He can grow physically but you cannot grow the brain.

If he can't thrive in a role tailor-made for him then he's in trouble. If he can, I'm not sure he's going to be worth that much.

Yep.

Frankly I don't see much more than Morris almond playing at a moderately higher level of athleticism in Burks game.

Pretty much all of this. Burks has shot beyond abysmally this preseason and he didn't really look that good in summer league. I cringe every time he shoots the ball, and I have no idea why his shot is so bad right now. I have always questioned his BB-IQ, and the explanation in this video shows you why (starting at 40). What the hell is he talking about?

I have always been worried about Burks' mental side to the game... from pre-draft.

He has tools, no doubt.. but has shown NOTHING to make me feel better otherwise.

Just listen to the explanations on any of these moves. Say what you will about Kobe, but he has a tremendous BB-IQ that he uses in split second precision. Alec doesn't seem to have a tenth of this.
