Which of Our Final 15 Will Not Be On the Opening Night Roster

I will start the bidding. I foresee some trades like the JLIII, Malcom Thomas and Erick Murphy trade for Felix or someone being shipped for a future asset. With that being said I see the following being voted off the island: Cooley, Junior Sapp, Chris Johnson, Cotton, Evans and Ingles. With the people they brought in from free agent camp, to the draft, to players put on the scrap heap like Caron Butler and Shelden WIlliams that the Jazz try to seriously upgrade the talent.

My guess is Evans, Cooley, Jerrett. I actually think Baby Sap comes back as his contract will be friendly in terms of what he gives us in production. I think the team also wants a good look at what Johnson can offer.

I meant to add Jerrett to my list. So that would leave us with 8 from the end of last season by my guess.

Gobert, Favors, Hayward, Burks, Hood, Exum, Booker, Jingles, Millsap and Cotton are all guys that I think come back.

That leaves the team to try to upgrade Burke (gone through a trade), Evans, Cooley, Jarrett and Chris Johnson. I think Millsap and Cotton are on the bubble, but will stick for at least another year as end of the bench guys.

Chris Johnson is the obvious answer. I like him, but he is an average wing.

I think we keep Jerret for another year. He has an intriguing base skill-set.

I agree with this. I want Evans to stay but the Jazz are upgrading. Though if I had to choose a 4th it would be Johnson.

I think Millsap & Ingles are safe - they'll be toward the end of the bench though.

This is what I believe. Johnson may be on the bubble depending on what else is out there.

I think 11 guys come back:
a. Gobert, Hayward, Favors, Exum, Hood, Burks are locks.
b. Booker, Cotton, Burke and Ingles and Millsap are probable.
c. Johnson, Jerrett and Cooley are on the bubble.
d. As much as I like him as a person, I think Evans is definitely gone.

Patrick Christopher will also get a long look. Jazz liked him before he got hurt. This team is starting to get very deep. Utah will start cutting guys who are going to hook on with other teams and get PT.

I don't think JIngles will be back. My rationale is that he will get a better deal than the Jazz want to pay. My source is that there are 3 Aussie players and an assistant coach at a local college and from them I get the feeling the purestrings will open up.

Drop Johnson, Cooley and Burke if possible.

Gobert
Favors/Booker/Evans
Hayward/Ingles
Burks/Hood/Millsap
Exum/Cotton

Fill in around that. Focus on C and PG. Draft a C that can shoot the 3? Sign/trade for PG that can as well.

With Burks returning, he wouldn't get much PT anyway. If he gets a good offer somewhere, I'll cheer for him whenever he isn't playing against Utah. He gives all slow white guys hope!

And this is kind of what I'm getting at when I said our castaways are going to get PT elsewhere. Ingles could be a rotation player on a lot of teams. With Utah, he'd be injury insurance and compete with Millsap and perhaps a draft pick to get garbage minutes.

Regardless of how much he plays, letting Jingles go would be a mistake. He's a guy who fits what Quin doe, clearly likes it here AND was a major part of the developing culture. He's a glue guy and a locker room leader. If he is needed, he can come in and play well also. Bet the Clippers were wishing they still had him when their bench was decimated to finish out the season and they lost a playoff series they had in the bag because their starters were exhausted.

I don't disagree with anything Ellis said. I'm just hearing that Joe might command some major $$$ in the open market because of those qualities and the Jazz FO might not match. My source is local sports talk radio here and Boise State has an Australian assistant coach and 3 aussie players and that's coming from them. This might sort of be a Wes Matthews situation where some team throws an obscene amount of money Joe's way. I hope he's back.
