His trade value is low for external reasons just as much as his poor play. He is a restricted free agent in 4 months, and there are a slew of quality big men who are unrestricted free agents. At least 5 of them are better than Kanter, so as a GM I'll take my chances on them rather than give a significant asset for Kanter.

Valid points, which is why Id expect him to be involved as a piece of a trade instead of the main asset. Although, depending on how he plays between now and the deadline, don't underestimate the value of being able to control his rights. You mention that there's a number of quality bigs on the open market (just curious as to which 5 you have rated better than Kanter), but there's no guarantee that a team an get one of them, while they can always match whatever offer Kanter gets or extend him outright.

Out of those big men, which ones are likely to leave their current team? And why? Money? Probably not. They are likely to get nice offers from their team.

I have Aldridge, Chandler, Jordan, and Gasol staying for sure. They are max guys and on championship contenders.

(all unrestricted)
Monroe - highest bidder
Millsap - possibly they have that Tavares freak overseas so probably have a limit on their offer to Millsap
Brandon Wright = highest bidder
Darrell Arthur - highest bidder
Asik - highest bidder
Ed Davis - highest bidder
Koufas - highest bidder

You can argue Kanter is better than some of these guys, but the dropoff is not much. Thus they still lower Kanter's trade value.

I don't understand your point. Kanter is better a prospect than all those players, but Monroe and Millsap. The big name ones we agree on.

How do those players drag down Kanter's value? The supply and demand rule would suggest that a Kanter level big is in low supply. We know what Millsap is, Monroe has upside still, but the rest is garbage. Kanter is going to be one of the only 22 year old high upside bigs available.

Kanter has talent in certain areas, namely footwork and offensive rebounding. He is average to below average to completely awful at everything else.

Just throwing this idea out there...
Kanter+Burke+protected 1st round pick to Denver for Ty Lawson.

Denver may as well be on a fire sale right now. They are already shopping most of their team, and looking towards the future. We do it because Ty Lawson is a HUGE upgrade for our back court, and its a good deal for the next 3 years. He would make us better right away. Denver does it because they are going to be looking to the future through a rebuild.

Nah Lawson was quoted saying he would never want to play in utah, we don't need guys like that.

Ok ok, so throw in JLIII or whoever is our 3rd string PG to cleveland in a Kanter trade for Lebron. Just get it done Lindsey, you lazy ***.

We clearly are not talking about Lebron or anyone near his caliber. There is a reason why he isn't included in the list.

So comparing him to the players on the list is dumb.

I think Denver would at least consider it

Forgot about this.
Good point

Where's the 'Other' option? We'll be lucky if we can trade him for Glenn 'Big Baby' Davis the way he's been performing. Something's wrong in that kid's head.
