Who could we trade for?

Does trading for anyone get us closer to something? I mean, we are not going to get a superstar in a trade, so would trading be a net positive?

Would need to trade for a restricted FA so we could match a contract.
OKC will need to choose between Westbrook and Jackson. Also, Perry Jones was having a breakout season. Doubtful they can keep him when he becomes a RFA.Those are just 2 examples; I'm sure there are a few others.

I'd rather see the Jazz start Gobert and Favors. Then - assuming no amazing lottery luck - draft Turner or Johnson. If they get a big, then go after a wing in FA. At 12:00.01 DL calls Wesley Matthews and Quin calls DeMarre Carroll. Sign one of those guys and have Alec be the 6th man. If the Jazz draft a wing, then Kanter returns to back up Gobert - unless a better option can be found. It's tough to find reasonably-priced bigs so I think the Jazz may go that route via the draft: even someone like McCullough or Porzingas could be a good choice.

Definitely think Matthews and Carroll are the best options of guys who may want to sign with Utah. Matthews liked it here and said all the right things; he understood why the Jazz didn't match his contract and was almost apologetic about leaving. Carroll is probably a little upset DL didn't keep him, but he developed a close relationship with Quin. Jazz could give him a nice fat contract. He's developed into a great 3PT shooter. I LOVE Millsap. He fits Quin's offense as a stretch-4. But he doesn't fit personnel-wise. Favors needs to start. So would Millsap. So that gives Utah two undersized players starting at PF and C. Just don't like that situation.

AS for a PG, if the Jazz replace Trey, I see them getting a veteran who could start for another year or two before gradually giving way to Exum. Also, they may bring over Neto. It's risky only having 2 legit PG's on the roster. Guess they feel a D-Leaguer could be signed if Trey or Dante get hurt.

Don't know what you are saying about millsap not fitting with this roster. There is literally not a better fit for this roster than millsap

He fits Quin's system. But that doesn't mean he'd fit with the roster. Is Millsap going to come in and be a backup? Not a chance in hell. Are we going to bench our $12M man? Not likely. So the starting bigs are a 6'8" PF and a 6'10" center. Millsap isn't exactly known as a great defender. So yes, Millsap fits the system, but I can't see him co-existing with Derrick. That's what I meant by my last lines.

My My, we are an impatient bunch.

The team that gives up on their current plan and starts over every other year never gets better. You can't lways be rebuilding. Eventually you have to play with the team you have for a couple of years and see what you have.

I agree but we have let a lot of our assets walk, in hopes that we would get better and we are horrible. At this point, we have to do something because- lets face it, we can't get any worse. We let Al Jefferson, Wes Mathews and P Millsap walk in hopes to build who we had to take their place. How well has that worked out for us?? If you want to build then start with proven talent that you have instead of trying to build a foundation on question marks. Now we are horrible and we have to get a stronger asset in the picture to be able to build anything. If we build what we have now were looking at having a 40 - 42 team in 3 years. Thats not what we need to be shooting for. We are lacking a couple pieces to put us in the 50+ win category in a few years.

I guess we disagree. I think a front court rotation of favors, millsap and Rudy could be pretty awesome. Millsap and favors could start, and we could get Rudy and sap to play a fair amount together too.

If we get a decent starting two guard who plays great defense, we could be awesome.

Kanter & Burke for Faried is one that I'm liking the most so far from this thread.

Faried is on the out in Denver, their FO is dysfunctional, their GM is a rookie. If they don't make the playoffs this year we should take Faried off their hands.

You do realize that his two parents are women right? Why would he want to play for a state that outlaws the union of his two Moms? If I were Faried I would NOT to play behind the Mormon curtain.

That stuff is legal now.
