What's new

Who do you extend?

I'd rather keep Exum than the others. Always been a Exum homer, never been an uber Hood fan. Not interested in paying Favors, he's still trying to figure out what his role on an NBA team is in his eighth season.

I think he made pretty good improvements in the off season.. if anyone has potential to be a big performer on a bargain deal I think it is him... he also has the most downside as he may be broken.

Favs may get the shaft this offseason and end up being on a decent deal... A smart team should get him and play him at center and reap the benefits.

Exum and faves on the cheap let hood go. Dante was killing it in preseason until the shoulder.

I think its important to keep in mind that Dante is still only 22yrs old. In his limited time hes shown the mental fortitude to deal with injury, changes in position and playing time, ability to get to the rim at will, hits his FTs, willing defender and is not scared of and comes through in big moments.

When Ive supported the case for Dante in the past its always been based on the player I think he can become when he is 25.

I really hope he makes it back this year and the Jazz letting him go would be a big mistake. It would break my heart to never see the DMX backcourt become a reality.

Yeah, Favors kinda needs to grow a pair and accept that he's a 5 in today's NBA. If he hadn't gotten softer and seemingly lost his explosion he could dominate the paint.

Who should the Jazz have selected with the 5th pick that year?

This is why I don't feel bad even if Exum busts. I don't fault franchises for taking players that are consensus BPA at the time. The best thing you can do in that situation if you disagree with consensus is to trade down. If there is an argument for how to play the 2014 draft differently, it's that.

Hood is more injury-prone than Dante. He gets injured from the slightest contact; Dante's injuries were the result of severe stresses and contact.

His ACL injury was no contact and he didn't seem to land in a particularly awkward fashion. He also hasn't played heavy minutes for an entire NBA season, there is no evidence to suggest that Exum is durable.

Reactions: MVP
I hope the Jazz are smarter this time around and do something with either Hood, Favors, Burks before they just walk. I would keep Dante and try to trade Hood for a first round pick. Isn't the coach for Sacramento a big Hood fan. I like Hood but he doesn't seem to have the it factor, too inconsistent. When he isn't hitting his shot he doesn't really do anything else. Favors needs to play center on a team because he isn't a stretch 4 in today's NBA game. Burks doesn't have a lot of value but he has talent and perhaps he can be included with Favors.

Now the hard part, I have no idea who we would trade for but hopefully, DL can figure it out. Jazz need another alpha scorer who can create his own shot and isn't afraid to take over a game.

I get this view.
But I also wonder if this view is logical or that rational.
But I am not going to reiterate the defense for Dante. For those like MVP who dismiss him as junk, or you as overrated might be right. I for one think you are wrong, and my main point is you should hope you are wrong too. Cause the Jazz are clearly a few pieces away from being a serious contender.
I hear ya too, but I hope Exum proves me wrong and I would be happy to eat my words
