Kanter is slow as hell has no post moves and is way worse than Evans if you don't see that it's something seriously wrong with you people

Guys, read the question.

Not who needs more minutes to develop
Not who, given the minutes, will develop into a better player
Not who, given those minutes, will provide a larger boost to our organization long term

But who is deserving of more minutes.

That answer is Jeremy Evans.

^^^ based on what? You told what the criteria is not, but failed to share what you believe it to be.

I dont care what people say about Kanter and him only being 20.... the dude is going to be a bust.

Yup those that disagree with you must have surely read the question wrong. That is clearly the only way they would disagree right?

Who "deserves" more depends on your definition of deserve. If you're talking about work ethic, personality, love of the game, etc. maybe it's Evans. Heck, maybe it's even one of the ticket takers or vendors or the person who does the laundry.

Evans will never be more than a niche player. He simply doesn't have the size to compete against the PF's in the league and cannot shoot well enough, or defend well enough, to be a SF. I love Evans. I love what he brings to the team, to the community. He's exceeded all expectations. How many of us even knew who he was before the darft?

A 2nd-rounder even making a team beats the odds. A 2nd-rounder signing a 2nd contract is even rarer. And a 2nd-rounder winning the Slam Dunk contest...are you kidding me? Let's enjoy Jeremy for who he is. Evans will never be an all-star, never be a starter and likely never be a guy who plays significant minutes every night. Kanter IS a regular rotational player, he probably becomes an impact starter at some point.

Play Kanter because he'll likely need to contribute significantly once Jefferson is gone. Play Evans in garbage time, or when the team is a little sluggish and needs a big dunk to energize them.

Why else would you say Kanter?

Really, you ask a valid question of me, so here it is.

Evans is using the tools that he has to make an impact when he can. He did it all season, although he was primarily fed garbage minutes. When he was called, he used what he had, when he could, to make plays, and energize the team.

Kanter is developing tools around what he has, but hasn't quite been able to truly capitalize those tools in a meaningful way. It's only mostly his fault that the tools he has are predictable. He's been thrown a bone regularly in the way of minutes all season(although not the same bone I gave your mom) and I can't recall any huge plays that really got the team going.

Now, if the question was who will provide a better value in the long run(2013-2014 season and beyond) given more minutes this season, the answer is easily Kanter. We spent what... 5 years on CJ Miles? I feel like we can afford at least that on Kanter.

No. If Kanter has not shown marked improvement by the 2013-2014 season then he needs to go.

Why not wait til the end of his rookie contract?

I said "by 2013-2014 season" and I should have siad "during the 20-13-2014 season". I think 3 years is enough to show marked improvement. I am not saying he has reached his ceiling but he is decidedly better than he is now.

I'm not necessarily saying we shouldn't. I'm saying that if second round 18 y/o CJ deserves 5 years, we could afford that on a #3 pick.

I see where you're coming from with this thread.

But I don't think Evans has done enough to deserve more playing time yet. He needs to bulk up and play better man-on-man defense on opponent's PF or even C if need be.

But if he bulks up, he will not be the pogo stick anymore, and then what does he have? Nada. He is what he is and I would not expect much change going forward. If he was going to bulk up,he would have done it by now. If he was going to learn to handle the ball, he would have done it by now.

He was given way more opportunities. On a per 48 minute basis, Jeremy would be ahead of Kanter.

He was given more opportunities because he is better able to contribute, thus was more deserving of minutes. I see no reason this will change in 2012-3.

I'd be more inclined to give that amount of time to a #3 pick than a second rounder like Miles. For the record I wanted Miles gone 2-3 years ago.
