Who is your starting 5

Seems to be a pretty strong opinion that with Hayward out that Joe gets the start at the 3
Hill
Hood
Johnson
Favors
Gobert

Burks? The forgotten man...
Any news on Alec's readiness as we get closer to the start?

Sources close to the jazz report that he's still struggling sticking his landings as he dismounts from the uneven bars.

If you were Snyder who would be your starting 5 when the season kicks off?

There are a lot of options. The one that I am starting to like is

Hill
Exum
Hood
Favors
Gobert

I think the defense of Exum on the perimeter can't be understated. Hood becomes Hayward until Hayward returns.

Johnson is the 6th man on the roster. Also more minutes for mack.

There is go with your best

Hill
Hood
Johnson
Favors
Gobert

Thsee are you best players at the moment at their respective positions. Exum becomes your 6th man or lyles.

There is the bizarre

Hill
Hood
Lyles
Favors
Gobert

With favors and gobert in the middle they would erase some of lyles defesive short comings. Spacing would be great as would length.

Then Johnson again is your 6th man not to mention freeing up minutes for diaw.

I need to take my daily lithium an re-read.

I've heard it is the blindfolded balance beam that is the hangup.

We need him healthy this first stretch of the season.

Also, I know wings are kind of able to just rotate between 2/3 but I don't view Hood as a great option as a 3. Just doesn't have the girth to guard the bigger wings imo. I want lineups to put our most important players in the best situations... so Hood as a 2 and Exum as a 1. Let guys like Mack move into different roles. I don't think positions matter as much when coming off the bench because everyone is mixing and matching at that point.

I'll take Exum at PG
..........Hood at SG
..........Hayward at SF
..........Favors at PF
..........Gobert at C

Real season starts when they have these guys starting

GHill,ABurks,JIngles,TLyles,BDiaw 2nd unit

JIngles,SMack 11th,12th man

Hill is a good player that we want to re-sign next year. I like Dante as much as anyone, but no matter how Dante plays this year, Hill is going to have a significant role on this team. I think the only way Dante takes the starting role this year, is if the team struggles and Dante is clearly outplaying Hill, or if Hill falls of a cliff for some reason. If both players are playing well and the team is winning, I doubt they make that change.

In other words, don't hold your breath.

JJ will start to keep his streak alive. We already heard before the games started that he was going to get more PT than expected, especially early in the season - and that was BEFORE Hayward's injury. JJ gives Utah more spacing; and that's a real need whenever you have Favs and Gobert on the court together.

I think our best lineup with a gun to our heads is Hill, Hood, Hayward, Favors, Gobert.

However, I'd be interested in seeing Exum start at point, move Hill to the 2, and Hayward at the 3 with Hood off the bench. That'd be something else.

Hood will have to play 3 while Hayward is gone unless you want our 3-rotation to be solely Johnson and Ingles.

Hard to speculate on a Hayward-free rotation until we get some decent data on Burks. If we're also going to be without him for a while, then I'd expect our SF rotation to be 90+% JJ and Ingles. Hood is definitely overmatched by the larger wings.
