So what time exactly is the deadline? Like if stuff isn't happening right now (behind the scenes, of course) it ain't gonna happen, right?

3PM Eastern time. So I would think that any trades that happen have been or are being discussed now. I'm honestly curious as to how quickly some trades may have come together in the past.

The trade deadline will be very boring. No trades for the Jazz and probably little to no trades at all for the league.


Why the hell do the NBA fans get all worked about this?

Why the hell doesn't the NBA change some things to make trading easier? Obviously the fans love this. Why disappoint them every year?

Simple, it's entertaining to worry about it. I've never expected the Jazz to make a big trade, but it's fun to speculate, check ESPN and other sources to see what's happening, talk about it with friends and acquaintances. Like many things, it's the process we (or at least I) enjoy, regardless of the outcome. Kind of like being a Jazz fan year after year despite no expectation that they'll ever win the Big One. I still enjoy it.

The NBA made changes that directly impact the trade deadline and lack of movement - the new CBA has high impact on why folks are not dealing. No way to get more movement without undoing much of what just went in place.
