What's new

Who will have a worse record than the Warriors?

On the bright side for Matthews, he's the big man on the backcourt campus in Portland now.

I don't have much hope for them though. I think they might battle Denver for worst in the NW.

2nd place in NW division is up for grabs. I could see any team getting it.

Also, I watched a Demarcus Cousins interview and they asked him about his weight. He responded by telling them it wasn't important, then sarcastically joked about how fat he was and how he just played video games all lockout. It was actually pretty funny. Also found a report that said he was 10 pounds lighter entering camp this year than last year. So the Kings may actually be competitive this year.

Here are my teams that I can almost guarantee will finish with a record below the Warriors, in no particular order:

Minnesota
Phoenix
Bobcats
Cavaliers
Raptors

Possible, depending on trades, FA pick ups, etc

Rockets
Jazz
Magic
Hornets

Not sure about their team:

Kings
76ers
Nuggets

Minnesota is no guarantee. They've hired Rick Adelman, and they have some seriously talented players. Id say the teams they'll definitely beat are the Suns, Raptors, Bobcats, Cavs, the Pistons, and the Nuggets. The Magic and the Hornets will depend on whether Paul and Howard leave their teams.

Didn't Portland get Raymond Felton? And now Alridge has a heart condition? They could be in trouble if Aldridge can't play.

GS has two skilled gaurds that can create and shoot , and even the rookie Klay Thompson could get smokin. This will be huge in the condensed season. They started slow last year when their big FA prize got hurt early, but came on a bit at the end. Udoh, Lee & Biedrins should be able to rebound, even if they can't defend anyone. This should make them a lock to win 18 games and good for 8th place in the NBA. Even Mark Jackson can't screw this up, can he?

I expect Cuz to be a beast this year .. only negated by the Jimmer making sure the ball never reaches his area.

I kid.

Denver and Portland won't make it.
Denvers out 3 players.
Portlands out like 20...

So that should be good

Cavs
Raptors
Bobcats
Hornets
Wolves
Kings
Pistons likely
Wizards likely
Nets maybe
Bucks maybe
Suns maybe
Sixers maybe

I keep reading all this optimism about the W's, but I just don't see it. They cut Reggie Williams free and amnestied Charlie Bell (great use of amnesty - one year, $4M left on Bell's deal) all to make an offer to DeAndre Jordan, whom the Clips will likely match. They haven't signed their rookies yet pending these FA moves. Right now their core is Lee, Ellis and Curry, with role players like Biedrins, Wright, Amundson and Udoh. In short, same as last year, but some other teams may have improve and I don't think the W's have yet. It doesn't take much for me to imagine them having a pick in the #1 to #7 range, making the Jazz wait a year.

I thought there was a good chance they'd amnesty Biedrins; who still has about 30mil coming. But then they'd have to admit they screwed up giving that bloated contract in the first place.
