What is realistically happening in two years that opens up our window?

This is why the draft this year was so important. When thinking of timeline we are either on Lauri's timeline or Kessler/Rookies/player to be picked in 2025?

We don't need to force a Jrue trade to happen and it sounds like he is out of the price range. But if they discussed the contract extension and other things lined up then go ahead I suppose. It might end up being the move before the MOVE. We also might see Keyonte or Taylor balling out and thinking... man if we had done that Holiday deal we'd be right in the middle of the playoff race.

Ainge is a value hunter... so he will only do it if it is good value. So Herro more likely than Jrue.

I can only see Jrue making everyone on our team better, Keyonte included.

With Herro you can make a legitimate argument he would stall a guy like Keyonte as they are somewhat similar and there would be some interference effect.

It is generally accepted that the peak age for a basketball player is somewhere around 27 or 28 years of age. A deep dive into some of the basketball statistics shows you that, but there are always some exceptions to the rule. While someone such as the late, great Kobe Bryant peaked in his late 20s, as you would expect, some other athletes peak at a different time.

So if you want to take advantage of what will likely be Lauri's best years, you probably want some sort of near peak/post peak veterans. I think a guy like Jrue is probably a year or two older than ideal, but I dont think you want a team full of 23-25 year olds who are still coming into their own.

Our window if we develop and draft well opens in 2 years. Anyone that says otherwise is full of ****. Jrue doesn't fit our timeline and doesn't come close to making us any kind of contender over the next few years.

Well, if we could somehow get Jrue for two years and within that time managed to add a star player, would you still say we’re not a contender? Personally, I would love to have Jrue. He’d be perfect for what we need. Herro I’m not interested in because he’s a one-way player. But there will be a lot of teams wanting Jrue.

Like once every 4 years. I think it may take 2+ picks or like 2 picks and Ochai. Sounds like the Clips would do 2 picks on their own... maybe they throw in Mann. That's what I mean by don't force it. If it is one pick and Ochai that's kind of my ideal range... if its 2 picks and Ochai or 3 picks... nah.

I'm talking myself into it a bit on Jrue. He has shown zero signs of slowing down. Just make sure you can get him to sign and extension of 1-2 years beyond the PO. Then you can flip him later if things ain't lining up right.

Much like Conley, there will always be someone in need of a veteran PG who can still play and is on an expiring or near expiring contract.

Take out Ochai, give them them 2025 Cavs pick, and make the 2027 the 2nd most favorable pick between the Lakers/Wolve/Jazz/Cavs pick (I believe you can do that last one, make creative protections like that to protect us and make sure we get the best pick of that 2027 group)

His one guaranteed year left on his contract fits the Jazz’s timeline?

Only one conclusion can be reached. Cy is guaranteeing we are contenders next year. Championship here we come.

Or… maybe people aren’t “stupid” if they think maybe there is a chance that we spend assets and Jrue just leaves in free agency because he is nearing the end of his career and like most athletes may want a shot at a title run that the Jazz can’t reasonably provide for at least a couple of years.

And they say no... I think they can get the two clips picks or one clips pick and one philly one unprotected. I think that is the bar to clear.
