Who's the Best Option at the SF

We have great young guys to build on, but for an established SF, AK fits. We need defense..... BAD. And AK provides just that. He has experiece and has the confidence to defend any SF or any position that an opposing team might throw at us.

I'm fairly confident in Harris. But I also think (wish/dream/fantasize) that Ty plans to change the offense from being less centered on the PG. We have suspect shooters everywhere, but we're also one of the few teams that have 4 guys that can drive AND pass -- Hayward, CJ, Harris, and (hopefully) Burks. Jerry would have plugged those 4 into the system. I have to believe Ty is going to implement a lot more pick and roll from different attack points like the Mavs. Harris can fit well into that. He can also push the ball which I hope Ty plans to stress. The dude is fast on the dribble, and he can make stuff happen if we have a concept to get out on the break relentlessly.

Harris in the "Jazz System" is nothing special. Harris used right could be.
Harris used right is to have a lot of shooters and give him the ball. If the Jazz are looking to spread the ball-handling duties more, they can't play the way that will maximize Harris (as he doesn't really play off the ball in general and doesn't spread the floor with the ball in his hands or not). And if they just give the ball to Harris, they have about the worst team composition possible (no reliable shooting, a space eater that can't play in motion or make a quick catch and finish).

When I look at the roster, I see one thing: Transition or bust. If Al learns to run, can be a better defensive rebounder and passer, and/or is off the floor.

Same. I just don't see how we're realistically supposed to trade for a legit, young PG, so it's gonna have to be through the draft. And the only PG in the draft that might be worth a top 10 pick is Teague, who I'm not totally sold on. But here's to hoping he's the real deal.
Precisely. Teague will have to show me what's up, but from what I've read, he's not much of a PG. Nemanja Nedovic intrigues me moving forward, and Kendall Marshall might be okay (though his lack of shooting and ineffective penetration/inside game causes me concern).

I'm not concerned with the Jazz continuing their tradition of elite PG play, in fact I'd rather go another direction. But I would like a PG to have a well-rounded skillset that translates to optimizing team play (like mixing Kirk Hinrich with Jose Calderon, or a player like Jrue Holiday who I like very much).

I've expressed my own concerns about Teague. Honestly most of my hope that he'll be good comes down to a few somewhat meaningless things; 1) At one time last year, he was ranked #1, overall, in his class. 2) Just about every mock has him the first PG taken in the draft. He has elite speed and handles, but I want to see leadership qualities and high bb I.Q.

As for Nedovic, couple negatives and positives .. I like that he has decent height and overall size, plays with poise, and is said to be a pretty good athlete. My concerns are, being 20 years old and playing internationally, he 1) averages more fouls than rebounds, steals, or assists 2) shoots 42% from the field (28.6% from 3) and 67% from the line. Anyone know why they are calling him a PG/SG? I assume it's what he's playing vs. what he projects to play? He certainly doesn't sound like an NBA 2, to me.

Bottom line is there are several prospects in this draft that have a lot of potential and a lot to prove. I think we'll learn the most about Teague (level of competition, style of play, and a ton of minutes) and a bit more about Kabongo and Wroten as well.

So what do you guys think of Teagues brother? Maybe Okur for Teague, Williams? Lets Atlanta move Smith for some assets or have a solid big man rotation (smith, Horford, Okur) and opens up a ton of fiancial reliefin the future for Atlanta(which they need and want). Then Utah addresses there 2 main problems Pg/Sf. Teague showed promised at the end of the season and Williams could use a new situation. Yes he is paid a lot (like 8 million a season for 3 more years) but he is a very servicable SF. and young enough to really click with the future core, that might bring a winning mentality?

Harris, Teague
Burks, Hayward
Hayward, Williams
Millsap, Favors
Jefferson, Kanter

Throw in the G.S. Lotto pick and you have yourself a really deep team.

I'm personally much more worried about the PG position at the moment/moving forward.

I'm not worried about the point guard position at all really. Harris is definitely almost a top ten point guard in the league. Say maybe 12th or 13th.
As long as Corbin decides to change up the system a little bit, to a "not so point guard oriented" system.....
This is the reason the Jazz should/need to re-sign Kirilenko.
If you orient the offense like the Jazz used to, where AK would control some of the plays up top.... then you can run multiple pick and rolls for basically anyone.
I would also love to see Hayward, Miles, and Burks be used the same way sometimes.
Hell.... with Millsap improving his ball handling all the time, you could use him like a Lamar Odom sometimes.
But the point is.... Harris is more than enough for the Jazz, when they have so much talent in the painted area.
Not to mention hopefully re-signing Watson as well, to bring that veteran leadership.

We actually might be able to trade Millsap for a young-ish PG in a package deal. Let him split time with Harris. Then bring back AK and his D for <<<< $$, IF he's willing and we don't land another SF.

That would give us:

PG Harris/????/Burks
SG Hayward/Burks/Bell
SF Kirilenko/Miles/Evans
PF Favors/Okur/Evans
C Jefferson/Okur/Kanter

I would consider Millsap for Jrue Holiday if the promising bigs start to meet their promise and Sap can't play the 3.
