Why Are the Jazz So Down on Murph?

If conventional wisdom is worth anything Murph is a dead man walking. Why are the Jazz so down on him. He had OK stats in the DLeague and I personally saw him play as bad a game as he could play so he had some good games there.
 
He sucks and isn't a NBA player. Dude looked awful trying to force shots whenever he got into any game.

That's what happens when you play only 2 minutes and get as much DNPs as you play. He was not forcing anything at first but he got desperate. Murph has a skill that can translate to NBA but he needs have plays made for him to gain confidence a little bit. That said it may be too late to get anything out of him.
 
It's hard to make an evaluation with the whopping 2 minutes a game he'd get in garbage time every 10th game, but to my untrained eye (and watching the NBA for 25 years or whatever) he certainly fails the eye test big time. At least last year he did. He's not a dead on shooter, doesn't seem to be a skilled passer, and looked pretty skinny and didn't bring any noticeable physical skills to the table (as opposed to Evans, who is skinny but is long and can jump out of the gym).

Nothing against him really, just a 2nd round guy who I don't think will pan out. Still though, he got to play in the NBA for a few games, so he's doing better than 99.99% of the planet.

Again though, what do I know. And I certainly wouldn't care if he was the 14th man or whatever on the roster. Perhaps he really does have skills that just need more tuning, or opportunity.

He looks like a volume scorer to me. You can't do that as a role player though. He isn't physical enough to really contribute in other ways either, from what I can tell.

I just don't remember a player who looked so desperate to shoot whenever he got the ball. It was really pathetic at times, like I was watching Ricky Davis.
 
He is probably just on the SL team because he knows the drill. Don't have to acclimate a brand new person and deal with more people.
 
Evans' rookie season under Jerry = 463 minutes of playing time.
Murphy's rookie under Corbin = 52 minutes of playing time.

Jeremy was taken 55th overall
Murphy was taken 47th overall

Kevin would have gotten more than half of that playing time if Jerry was still the Coach. He may have even gotten more than Jeremy did in his rookie season.

Something else to mull over, in Jeremy's sophomore season under Crobon, he recieved 217 minutes of playing time. Less than half of what he got in his rookie season under Sloan! AND last season he got 215 minutes. I'm willing to bet that had Tyron Crobon been the coach in Jeremy's rookie season, Jeremy would be out of the league right now and would have no dunk contest trophy and wouldn't be a fan favorite.

Crobon is just a really ****ty coach who has something against young players. It's just a very unfortunate situation for Kevin and I'm scared for all our rookies next season. Hopefully 2014-15 we'll have a new coach that will be willing to play young players because I highly doubt Tyron will play any of our rookies much this season. Even Burke.

Sloan never coached Kanter, so he didn't have the extra big man needing minutes in front of Evans. That is why Evans played more under Sloan than Corbin.
