Why Can't Gordon Hayward Rebound?

....exactly right! As frail as he looks, he's probably wise to protect himself and not play with reckless abandon...end up breaking a bone and not helping the team at all! Personally, I never went very hard for offensive rebounds when I played. Too risky...too dangerous! We spent more time working to get a good high percentage shot....so we wouldn't need an offensive rebound!!!

Never went hard for a rebound. You would of never played on my team sir. Coach would have you kicked off the team. You go hard everytime your on the court or you go home. Hayward is justa bum and you guys need to realize it
 
.....I went hard for rebounds, just not offensive ones! I was excellent at blocking my man off the boards and getting the defensive rebound. But going for offensive rebounds can cost you fouls and put you out of position for the oppossing teams fast break. Oh, and besides....I wouldn't want to be a part of your hip-hop team anyway!!!
 
Hayward had at least 3 offensive rebounds by going into traffic and tipping the ball out to the perimeter. That is what I like to see. Someone might say "Oh, what does averaging 1-2 more rebounds per game really mean?". It means two extra possessions which make a world of difference if the final score is a differential of one.
 
Who cares about rebounds? It's one of the more overrated individual stats. All I care about is that the Jazz as a team do a better job rebounding than the other team. If everyone boxes out and keeps their man off the boards, it's wholly irrelevant which one of our players gets it. Hell, how many times a good box out leads to the other team committing a loose ball foul or tipping the ball out of bounds? No one gets a rebound, but who cares? The Jazz got the ball.

The actual rebound is simply a small, individual final step in what is a team act of making a stop and getting the ball.

That is all well and good in a idealistic world where the big men box out religiously and never miss an assignment. However, in the Utah Jazz world, our starting big men aren't very good at boxing out. Our SF needs to give them some support on the boards for the betterment of the team.
