What's new

Why did Ronda Burke tweet negative things about Enes Kanter last season?

It's funny to me how so many posters have their favorite players who can do no wrong and their least favorite players who are absolutely worthless.

I'm taking a "wait and see" approach to all of them until at least one year spent in Quin Snyder's system under a coaching staff who specializes in and appreciates player development.

If at that point, they still haven't shown progress, or clearly aren't in the team's long term plans. . . I'm happy to see them traded for other players or assets. You guys make smh with your back and forth trolling and vitriol.

As for Ronda. . . she's a classic helicopter parent. She extols her son's virtues while conviently ignoring his shortcomings. I don't like that she's already shown a propensity to publicly call out Trey's coaches and teammates for perceived failings. It's been my experience that that type of behavior breeds contempt in a locker room. These guys need to live and breathe team basketball, but she's constantly trying to set her son above the team. Thankfully Trey seems a little more level-headed.

I can't help but picture her like all the hanging-ons around Rod Tidwell screaming "Show me the money!"

So basically a bias overly zealous mother tweets a bunch of bias motherly things. This isn't going to impact the team.

Until it's time to talk contracts. I see her as being influential in her son's life and career. She already has an overinflated opinion of his talent and role on the team - and she's outspoken about it. Not too big of a deal right now, but I can totally see her publicly sniping the team on twitter about how they're disrespecting her son. It just sows seeds of discord when family members do this.

As a Packers fan, the level of anger directed towards Greg Jennings because of his family's tweets was just silly. I can see it being even worse for Burke to be honest.

My personal hope is that Trey continues to grow as a player in his role and comes to love playing in Utah (like many others have before him.) I guess we'll see if he ever lives up to his draft position.

Again, why do you think quoting simple stats is so convincing?

So we shouldn't judge a player based on their statistical performance?

Again I can't see tweets from a mother having any impact on real decisions. Whether it be personnel or contract wise. You think Rhonda Burke is the first irrational out spoken parent? So long as Trey doesn't bring any of that to the organization or even his father Benji there will be no problems between management and the Burke's.

Honda Burke is kind of a c u next teusday at times, but she follows me on tweeter and wants the D so I'm giving the B a pass.

The funny thing is that I don't dislike her. She clearly loves her son and has helped him grow up to be a good person. For a lot of kids, that's a ton more than they'll ever have. I admire her for that.

I only wish she wouldn't direct her public criticism toward Trey's teammates (coaches are fair game as we've dealt with it a lot more the pipit our lives.) I can see how that would have a negative impact on the group dynamic. I worry that she's the kind if mom that will constantly be chirping about other peoples contracts in comparison of her son's.

She loves her boy. As a parent, you can't fault her for that. As a fan, sometimes I'd like to delete her twitter account.

I think it's mainly that Kanter was drafted #3 and people are impatient and expect him to be a 20-10 player.

It's funny that franchises and fans are so "in a rush" to win it leads to decisions that are counterproductive. It makes fielding a quality team almost impossible. Patience is key in team building. Look at what the fan base here has already concluded about their rookie PG after what all things considered was a solid rookie season.

Millsap's uncle was a real piece of work. But really no concern for several years. Jazz will have the rights to Trey just like they do with Hayward, Kanter, etc.
