Why didn't Utah sign Gallo?

There are already people saying NBA free agents in 2018 won't get paid as much as free agents in the past two years. Obviously last summer teams went crazy and spent WAY too much money. This summer they dialed back a bit, but still overspent some. A lot of teams have spent big time $$$$ on average players.

I've been critical of DL for many things, but I think he has positioned the Jazz well for the 2018 free agency market. I guess we'll see if he's lying to us about free agents starting to become attracted to Salt Lake City.

On a side note - Derrick Favors has to be frustrated about timing. He was loyal and signed a four year extension with the Jazz for $40 million and then watched as Hayward signed $160 million in contracts. It pays to have a good agent in the NBA...

And what big free agents of the 2018 class going to consider, let alone sign with Utah? LeBron? Russ? Who??

This has been their M.O. for as long as I can remember really. Even during the Stock and Malone years. Small moves, occasionally a medium-sized move or a move in the draft to move up a few spots. And it has always gotten to also-ran status. This is my biggest wish, that we would pull an Ainge and either snag the ring or fall flat on our faces. I am getting very tired of mediocrity.

I agree on your wish that the Jazz go big sometimes.

But I think you pan them to hard. The Jazz have fielded some great to elite teams over the course of their time in Utah. I wouldn't call those squads mediocre.
