Why do we play so slow?

Watching the game last night the biggest problem was defense. Say what you will about turnovers playing slow or what ever. You can't be a good team if you can't get stops. The jazz have always had turnover problems, and as bad as the defense has been over the last few years, yesterday was worse.

I see it the other way around. Our offense is so bad it leads to offense for the other team. If we could make some buckets, it would allow us to set up our defense better. Also I think our guys get so discouraged from how badly they are offensively that it effects our defense.

This.

Although our defense has sucked...

I see our offense never getting anything inside... Anything easy... And it's just one ugly mess of turnovers and jumpshots.

I never thought I'd see the day when I'd prefer a crazy GS or Sacramento chucking offense ahead of ours...

Or watching Dwade and Lebron go 1 on 5 and scoring... To ours...

Seriously folks, watching Lebron wheel, travel, bump, and run over 5 defenders en route to the basket is much more enjoyable to watch than our stagnate, unbelievably boring, and bricklaying offense.

I'd prefer CJ or Harris go 1 on 5 than see them attempt to run whatever they're attempting to run.... At least their individual athleticism might lead to a foul or a dunk sometime...

I would say favors didn't play enough to say he was bad defensively. And Nene didn't do much when favors was in the game.

Everytime I saw Favors get beat by Nene was when someone else got beat so he had to leave his position to help and it left Nene wide open. He never had a chance on many of those.

Serious question. Why aren't we forcing the ball up the court and trying to play more up-tempo? It seems to me that we aren't built to really run an half court offense. We don't have the shooters, post players, or PG to run a real effective half court offense. With the players that we have, we might be better suited to play more like GS or PHX and try and score more in the fast break. Devin Harris for example, is a complete wreck in the half court. However, his speed can cause problems in the break.

I saw on two occasions where Kanter -- Kanter! -- was way ahead of the Jazz pack. On both occasions there were 4 defenders back. Still, when Kanter got to the top of the key, he slowed down to wait for the other Jazz players. Someone on the coaching staff needs to take him aside and tell him to keep running until he gets to his spot in the low post and fight to hold it -- ala Malone. At the very least, this would drag one more defender in to double him and perhaps open up the outside for a quick 14 foot jump shot.

Re-sign AK, and maybe they would have a player that could finish at the rim other than Millsap.
Not to mention his defensive capabilities that are better than anyone on this team (again, other than Millsap).
KOC needs to either sign a shooter that can actually shoot with the TPE, or use their Bird rights on AK to get someone behind Millsap on offense.

I agree with this.
Kanter was really pushing down the court.
I've liked his effort for sure, and I hope he keeps bringing it.

And don't just blame Al or Harris or bell for the bad defense, because there defense was a total team effort or lack there of. I'm also speaking of Hayward Favors Watson and yes Millsap too. They were no better then the rest.

Wish we could combine Kanter's defensive efforts with Hayward's offensive efforts. Kanter looked pretty tough on defense but lost on offense. Hayward was the first man down the floor, moving well on offense, but got beat repeatedly on def...
