Wiggins..

This is what is so tough about this draft. Do you take Carmello #1 (Parker) or do you take the guy who could be Hakeem or could be Odom (Embiid) or the guy who could be LeBron or could be Gay (Wiggins).

I'm still not sure I don't take Parker #1.

Yep. I'm even more down on Parker than I am Wiggins. I worry about Parker's weight, poor outside shot (it was bad for 2/3 of the season), ball handling and passing. His defense is simply atrocious and anybody who drafts him will just have to accept that. Ultimately, I for me it would just be tough to pass on the length and athleticism that Wiggins brings to the table. He'll never be LeBron or Durant - that is a pipe dream. I'd say his ceiling is Paul George and hopefully his floor is Gay. I wouldn't necessarily take Wiggins #1 because I'm convinced he's going to be a star, rather I'd simply be scared to pass on him. I'd probably go Randle #2 over Parker and make him a true 4. All this assumes Embiid is either injured or not coming out.

Randle at #2? You're behind the times.

No, I just watch a lot of basketball. He's the one guy nobody in the country can handle one on one in the post - and every opposing coach knows it. The ONLY way to stop him is to double him - you can't say that about Wiggins, Parker, Gordon or Smart. And Exum hasn't done **** against any real competition. None of that says anything of the fact that he's an automatic 10 rebound guy. Besides, as Fabtrey so eloquently put it, he has a "nice pair of bun bun" and "delicious footwork". How could Lindsey pass on that?!

You made it seem that you thought all wiggins points come from alley oop dunks.

I have seen ALOT of his points come on three point shots, long twos, floaters, free throws, step backs, post ups, put backs, runners, etc.

I think he will be able to do more than just alley oop dunks

You forgot the spin move to the hoop.

My biggest issue with Wiggins' last game was that he didn't shoot enough. I want him to shoot at least 14 times per game. I'd much, much rather have a 1/14 night than a 1/6 or whatever he did.

Thanks Kenny Smith.

Wiggins is going to be an outstanding basketball player. Reminds me of a more athletic Clyde Drexler. Could be an NBA superstar.

Evaluating a prospect based on one game is a bad idea.

Anthony Davis for example had 6 pts on 1-10 shooting in the final game of the 2012 NCAA season. True, he contributed 6 blocks and 16 rebounds, but it's not hard to find examples of games from Davis' freshman year where he seemed to contribute very little.

It's incredible how much we've witnessed the hasty generalization fallacy being committed ever since the Stanford/Kansas game. To balance it and as a reminder of what Wiggins can do, here's Wiggins against West Virginia:

edit: at least check out 1:35 - 1:44 in this video. Most beautiful individual play I've seen in a while.

apples and oranges. anthony davis had bill russell like presence. his presence alone made everybody around him better. dude changed the game just by being out there. his defense and rebounding ability was just pure sex.

scoring is overrated when you know how play D. davis never really looked to score, yet he avg 14.2 and shot over 62%. when davis goes 1-10 he still is the best player on the court. if wiggins goes 1-10 he looks like a scrub.

if davis came out this year, he would be head and shoulder above wiggins, embiid or jabari. it would be so one sided. zero debate.

So let me get this straight. We shouldn't judge Wiggins based on a single game, but rather, we should judge him based on a single play?

Wiggins might be all that. I'm not saying he won't. I'm just saying I've become a bit skeptical. For someone with as transcendent talent as he's supposed to posses, I'm not sure he showed that consistently in college. This wouldn't be the first time a player has been over hyped. Not that it matters, we won't be getting him in any case in all likelihood.
