Will Deron survive in Turkey?

right now,m turkish league and spanish league are the best 2 leagues in europa. Most of the top europan players joined the turkish league.turkish league is the second valuable leage in europa after spain.

Yeah, I would say Greece was the 1st or 2nd best paying league at one time. The owners of a couple of the teams are loaded, but the massive economic issues Greece has had has diminished the pay their.

I'm hoping he stay there for a month or two, hates it, and ends up not getting paid somehow because the franchise stiffs him.

Doesn't mean he wanted to repeat the process again ten yeas later (and ten years older). The reason Sloan stuck around for so long because he was chasing that outside shot of the Championship with Williams.

You're probably right about that. How many times do you think Soan heard, "anyone could have a winning record with Stockton and Malone?" Coaching the no-namers to a respectable record and then making the conference finals proved he could be successful with other players. I think he proved some doubters wrong about his coaching ability.

Wasn't there a rumor that KOC wanted CP3 and Sloan lobbied for Deron. The constant bickering with Deron, without support from Greg led to Jerry losing interest in coaching the team. Had Larry H still been alive, I think Jerry might still be coaching. Larry may not have agreed to suspend Deron, but you can bet he would have intervened somehow. Greg (and KOC) let the situation fester too long - and that emboldened Deron to just increase his insubordination.

The Deron shakeup was a blessing in disguise. Sloan would have retired this year or next anyways....he is turning 70. There was also no doubt Deron Williams would not be resigning, he has about 5 prime years left and is going to want a good chance at a ring, even if it means he takes less money. So, sssuming there is a full year lockout, the Jazz traded about 30 games of Deron for:

Devin Harris
Derrick Favors
Enes Kanter
Alec Burks (with Deron here we don't get #12 and probably end up with a lesser potential player like a Morris twin)
Michael Gilchrist (likely choice from the GS pick)

You can't ask for a better haul than that.

yes, greece was the 1st untill last year, but because of the financial crises they not gonna invest like last year.

Maybe he met memo's wife, Yeliz, and saw the Carl's Jr commercial with Miss Turkey and wanted to hang out with some women from Turkey. Yes, I know he's married, but this is the NBA and precedent has been set over and over again.

Wow that's impressive.

I'm still going to boo him, but I think I will thank him at the same time for Harris, Favors,Kanter , and burks and who ever we pick with the GS pick.

I thought he had reformed his ways and is now a good Christian. :)

Gordon Monson is about 10,000 times better at his writing job than his radio job. Here's another great article. Can you see DWill sitting around in a third rate hotel after a rickety bus trip with the reward of playing second rate competition and hopefully getting paid for it? If the lockout has to happen at least we can have the entertainment of seeing how long he can endure this. My guess is he comes up with an excuse to cancel his contract long before the lockout ends.

He will probably be living a more luxury life than he was living in US because the turkish rich life is really rich, poor is too poor though. And i think its the biggest transfer made by a European team ever even though he will probably not be playing more than half of the season.
I believe Deron will lift that team to 2-3 higher levels and as it has been said Kobe will probably be joining the same team. They may dominate most of the games but they will be ruined when the lockout is over. The top teams or the more serious teams in Europe bring nba players whose contract is over. Besiktas made transfer rather for show business not for the game.

P.S. Right now Turkish league seems to be second best after Spanish in Europe, 2 greek teams still are one of the best in Europe but recently they are losing power due to economical crisis while Turkish teams are investing more in basketball.

As I remember, international refs suck worse than ours. So no.

Duron is going to spend most of his time laying under the basket and yelling at the refs.

I wouldn't say international refs are worse. They are probably just as bad. However, the international game allows a lot more contact on the perimeter as well as down low (they actually let players play). Deron won't do as well, and he won't like it.

i will never boo williams. all the drama we have had to go through is still not enough to erase all the good times this team has experienced because of him; some memorable playoff moments, him helping to install some hope into the fan base about the jazz being able to contend again, and the fun it was to watch people fall over trying to guard him.

him growing an ego will never be enough to tarnish how he helped this team, and the vast amount of time and money he put into the wasatch front community. booing him for an unproven rumor only makes our fan base look even more ignorant. thank him for his time, the memories, and his (continued) involvement in our community, and move on.
