Will NYK picks be more valuable the Lakers picks?

NOP controls their draft right now... they need to talk a mega star into signing outright in 2025 or 2026 to be good in 27-29. I'm telling yall... the Lakers picks will be better than the Knicks picks.

I mean, considering the Knicks trade 6 picks and 2 young guys for us (with just one of them being RJ, Toppin or Grimes), in the reality that the cap space have another big spike going forward (and that"s a discussion that been there for a while) they'd possibly still have ways to clear cap for another guy in a year or two moving out of Randle contract (Maybe Robinson If needed too ?). A forever 12th to 14th placed Knicks may not be attractive to stars, but a 6th to 8th with some young guys around their prime (one that once heads into NY may rise as one of the most popular faces in the league), that could be another history, then it's just cap maneuver. That could never happen, like the Knicks actually getting to be good, lol, but isn't out of the picture for me.

At this point I think the Lakers are set up to be worse than the Knicks in 5 years. The Knicks are younger and have guys that still have some growth potential that they should be able to hold on to if they want.

The Lakers in 5 years could still have AD, but he'll be towards the end of his career. They will likely still be a free agent destination, so will add some more talent, but sometimes that works against them where they rely on free agency too much and make poor decisions because of it.

Have the reports for taking on Westbrook been for unprotected picks? I'm wondering if they would really do that? Last I heard Lebron and AD and Westbrook decided to give it another go.

That's why you have to overwhelm them imo. Sending 4 rotation players is huge for them. They could win the title with some health luck... even if they gave up the number 1 pick in one of those years the trade is a success for them. Their roster is so so so bad right now.

Hell AD might be at the end of his career now. He can't stay healthy for longer than a 10 game stretch. Won't be much more of that before he calls it quits I am sure. He got his token super-team ring, so he could retire with everything he wanted. I could see it happening sooner rather than later if his injuries keep up like that.

Think about it.... If we trade Don to NY and they have Brunson, RJ and some other stuff... are their picks going to be more likely to be higher than the Lakers picks. LA doesn't own their own picks until 27 and 29. Lebron is old... AD is fragile... it may be scorched earth in 27/29... choose wisely.

No… but I do think in a Don trade you might acquire something that is of great value to LA that might push that trade over the ledge… like Trent Jr. or Max Strus. We probably have enough on our own to do it but that might be part of the value in dealing with a non-NY team and honestly I think the Lakers picks have a much better chance of being lotto or high lotto picks in the 27-29 period.

Idk. That’s tough. Sort of an interesting “gamble” to take.

I get it but sometimes athletes are weird and healthier in the second half of their career. And while Lebron has worn down, he averaged 30.3 on 52%/35.9%, 8.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks this past year. It’s risky. I’m just now sure how much.

If we trade for Russ then keep him and trade him at the deadline again for more picks. I don't care if we just get one pick from LA but having him as an asset at the trade deadline or at next year's draft for a team that wants to dump salary maybe a smart move.

Second option can't be done (can't move an expiring after the trade deadline, if I understand correctly). As for the first, why would anyone send an asset our way for Russ at his salary?

If we take on more salary - i.e. a salary dump. Timing is key.
