Will Spurs Match Max Offers For Kawhi Leonard?

The Spurs match. I'd still give him a max offer laden with stipulations on day 1 of free agency though, no questions asked.

If the Jazz let Hayward walk and don;t lock the $ up elsewhere, they could actually offer both Klay Thompson and Kahwi Leonard max contracts to start next years free agency period off.

I'd rather edited then sign Klay Thompson to a max.

I'm confused as I can't predict what the Spurs actually are gonna do/are doing.

I mean before the article I was thinking they would do their best to extend him, now I am not so sure.

Given that Hayward and Parsons both got essentially MAX deals coming off their rookie contracts, I think it's safe to say that Leonard will to. As such, my expectation is that they will offer him the 4 year max deal and not let another team dictate additional terms - like a players option for the 4th year or a trade kicker. If he hits the RFA market, those terms are almost certain to be included in the language of the contract.

I won't be surprised to see Klay Thompson get a max deal, but probably not from Utah. I do wonder if Denver is still trying to trade Kenneth Faried. I've always liked him and think he'd be a great hustle and rebounds guy.

A player like Kawai with an arthritic Duncan and Ginobilli on your team, you do what ever is necessary to lock him up for the long haul.
