Will The Version of Gordon Hayward that led the Jazz to a win over the lakers please stand up!

He'll be fine.

We really only saw 1 game.

Game 2 refs took him out. Hate that in the NBA. They can call half his fouls on anyone any trip down.

What I am concerned about is not so much Hayward, but our lack of movement/involvement of the wings in the offense.

Late last year, especially the Laker game, they ran plays thru Hayward. He has a great on court presence.

He tends to zone out if he is not involved, which is natural.

So the question is to Corbin, what's our offense ?

I agree. The problem isn't Hayward specifically. The wings need to get more involved, but maybe we'll see more of this in upcoming games. Once that happens Gordon will be fine.
 
Somebody has got to put the ball on the floor, and make a mid range shot once in a while.
Everything the Jazz do from the wings is either catch and shoot, or drive all the way in for the attempted layup/dunk.
It's hard to get an open shot when the other side knows what you are going to do.

First off, I don't think Hayward has a problem other than still being young and developing. But if he does, it's not the offense. CJ, Burks, and Howard have all found ways to get to the basket so far, and Burks and Howard barely know what we're running.

In just last night's game, Hayward brought the ball up several times. He had a very nice P&R where he dished for a 3. His "problem" was that he was hesitant a number of times, passed up open shots. He tried to do too much on defense. That's what he did last year. It's part of the learning curve.
 
Bring the anxiety down at least a scosche, everybody generally. Most teams take a decade or more to rebuild. Let's just try to have some perspective. We are pretty spoiled fans (at least for our market-size).
 
The refs didn't take Hayward out of the Portland game, Hayward took Hayward out of the game. His release is as slow as Tiim Tebow's and if he can't stay out of foul trouble, he won't get very many minutes. I think his big problem is that he is a SG and Ty has him at SF.
 
One of Hayward's biggest problems is that he jumps to pass (usually along the baseline). He just needs to calm down and keep his dribble, a lot like he did at times in the Lakers game last year. If he keeps his dribble alive, he'll solve a lot of his problems. By the way, Paul Millsap had a lackluster preseason last year, bricking shot after shot. Not sayin' Hayward will follow suit, but who knows--he showed he has skills. He's hard on himself.
