For context, Chandler just signed a 4 year extension worth a little over 10 million a year (he cant even be traded until January), which is going to be gold in the next CBA (IMO). So if we traded for Chandler with the idea of him being our back-up PF/SF, there really wouldn't be any significant developmental minutes for Lyles during his rookie contract.

Why should we give up on Lyles so soon? We haven't seen enough of him to make this judgement.

That's just too much. I would give a 2016 first rounder with very few protections. They can have the OKC pick, but that's where I stop. Chandler hasn't played for a lot of winners either... I don't see anyone outbidding us.

I'd almost rather go and see if Tucker is available in Phx if that is the price. He'd be available for much less and I'm not sure there is that big of a difference between them.

I view his experience with Philly as a reason he's undervalued. He shoots a lot of contested threes which he makes. No one creates for him. I think his percentages move up with a team that can help him and I am a pretty big believer in RPM which can occasionally be flukey, but he ticks that box too.

I'd take either for the right price just see Covington as higher upside. Not sure he has a lower floor though. Both are good options.

Side note... I haven't seen you crowing Bobby Portis/ Otto Porter... they look great right now (not sarcastic at all... I have watched and love what I see).

I think I bumped the Otto Porter thread in General Sports.

As far as Portis goes, yeah he had a great pre-season like I knew he would. He is going to have a great career, I just dont like to bring it up because it's not a positive thing to bring up. Also, he probably won't play much in the regular season because of the crowded front-court. I like Lyles, but he doesnt have Portis' intensity (how many times has Lyles gotten killed on the boards?) and now that Portis has shown he can hit the NBA 3, it's even more of a blow to what could have been.

Was shocked he lasted that long. Worst case he's Brandon Bass who has been a great third big. I was a fan if we moved down just because he was projected a bit lower.

I like the idea of Lyles and see it more now. Was not a big fan, but we've cast our vote and I trust those that did.

Porter looks like a different player.
 
The lockout destroyed Chandler's trajectory. He was on a pretty good path before then. Now he's a better paid Trevor Booker.
 
I'd almost guarantee that Denver has no interest in Lyles. They would want draft picks. However, this trade would probably necessitate the departure of Lyles, likely in a different deal.

Why? It's rumored they want to trade Fahried in favor of a more skill oriented big (Fahried has basically been the same player since his rookie year).

I mean, I would be pretty excited about that lineup if I'm a Nuggets fan. Maybe they draft a guy like Ingram/Murray/Brown/Newman on the wing (or combo guard) and you are looking a team that has 4 really versatile players and a big center. Then use the later draft picks to fill out the bench, maybe sign a free agent in the off-season with cap-space instead of starting Lyles or a rookie, you could have a good team pretty quick with only a 1 year tank.

Gallinari is the one that is going be traded out of the nuggets They also have a nice young back court with Gary Harris who showed some flashes at times last year. Lyles is meh. Kind of a tweener in the pros. Not strong enough at the 4 and not quick enough at the 3. I see him as a career backup at best
 
Chandler is a career 33.9% 3pt shooter. Would that be enough of an upgrade to give up a potential 1st round pick + our most recent lottery selection?

Ingles and Chandler are basically identical in terms of height and weight. I think Ingles will play some minutes at backup (small ball) 4 for us this year. Obviously all around Ingles isn't the same player as Chandler, but I feel like they would fill similar roles for our team (backup 3 and 4). Plus Ingles shoots a better clip from 3 (35.6% after starting the season terribly), and he has already developed chemistry with the team.

Again, I'm not saying Ingles is as talented or valuable as Chandler, but considering they'd play similar roles for us, I don't know if giving up that much for Chandler would be worth it in the end.
