What's new

Wilson Chandler?

Gallinari is the one that is going be traded out of the nuggets They also have a nice young back court with Gary Harris who showed some flashes at times last year. Lyles is meh. Kind of a tweener in the pros. Not strong enough at the 4 and not quick enough at the 3. I see him as a career backup at best

Flashes? That is kind. He shot 30$ from the field and 20% from deep. The dude was hot trash.

Chandler is a career 33.9% 3pt shooter. Would that be enough of an upgrade to give up a potential 1st round pick + our most recent lottery selection?

Ingles and Chandler are basically identical in terms of height and weight. I think Ingles will play some minutes at backup (small ball) 4 for us this year. Obviously all around Ingles isn't the same player as Chandler, but I feel like they would fill similar roles for our team (backup 3 and 4). Plus Ingles shoots a better clip from 3 (35.6% after starting the season terribly), and he has already developed chemistry with the team.

Again, I'm not saying Ingles is as talented or valuable as Chandler, but considering they'd play similar roles for us, I don't know if giving up that much for Chandler would be worth it in the end.

He has shot above his career average for the past 3 years, so it's safe to say he has become a better shooter as he has gotten older.

He has a much quicker release than Ingles and he has the athletic ability to give us an edge as a small ball 4. Ingles playing the 4 is alright, but the advantage he gives us is kind of negated by the fact he shoots it slowly (though it has seemed quicker in preseason) and is slow.

I dont know enough to say for certain, but I assume he is a much better defender than Ingles too. *If he was a good defender this would make me even more excited*

Overall I just feel like its a trade that would help take us to the next level. Lyles is cool, but his upside is the backup to Favors who can space the floor a bit (which is a work in progress on being able to shoot).

I pretty much agree with you. I do like Wilson Chandler. I think Ingles would/ will do a solid job defending as a small ball 4 though. I remember watching him guard Julius Randle in the preseason, and he held his ground better than most of the other Jazz did that one game where Randle got hot. Randle tried to bull through him, and I was suprised to see Ingles force him to force up an ugly shot. Randle didn't try that again on Ingles.

I know Ingles has an obvious ceiling because of his athletic ability, but his decent 3 pt shooting and especially his willingness not only to pass but to get rid of it quickly really help this team. I remember Zach Lowe talked a lot about this in his podcast where they talked about the Jazz for a while. He talked about how Ingles was one of the best swing passers (spurs-type passing) in the league, and he helped the Jazz offense run. We already have lots of guys who are mostly 1 on 1 scorers like you've talked about (Hood, Burks and Burke to an extent). I know I'm digging maybe a little too much into the small details, but I think Ingles helps this team run both with his smarts offensively and his toughness and effort defensively.

I agree though, I would like Chandler at the right price. I would like him more in the sense that he'd take minutes from Booker. I know Book is a fan favorite, but the advanced stats don't lie-- he's inneficient, not a great defender, and inconsistent offensively.

Yeah, Booker just isnt consistent enough like you said. He doesn't really add any kind of tangible dimension to our team other than exciting plays and toughness. I was really hoping he would come out this year as a more willing and ready 3pt shooter, but it seems like he is basically going to be the same as he was last year.

Let's not get carried away. No need to trade a rookie in the lotto and a first round pick. Wow just wow!! A first should be good for Chandler If not u hang up the phone. I like Chandler and all but that's too steep a price for a third wing who gets backup 4 minutes.

Why Lyles instead of Booker?

Because you could turn a third string PF that will need a LOT of development into something we need more. On the last year of his contract, Booker has no value with the league wide salary cap situation.

Bump... Nice work by JustTheTip above.
