Wizards At Jazz - 3/18/15 8:30 PM Mountain Time

Some random thoughts...

1) We struggle against bigs that get physical with us. Gortat was the MVP today. He harassed Gobert on principle. Also,he took some pretty big charges. Overall, I think their bigs beat our bigs tonight.

2) Free throws. We can't leave a dozen of points at the free throw line, we just can't.

3) We actually played great defense, but the Wizards just made some outstanding shots. A lot of the unforced turnovers by the Wizards was because our length looked like it was disrupting the natural flow of their game.

4) John Wall had a great game. He made some shots that almost broke our back a couple of times. Paul Pierce played well too, except I forgot how obnoxious he is - and not in the good way.

5) After being successful driving the ball, Hayward chucked a three when he was off rhythm with 7 seconds left on the clock. Miserable possession.

6) Trey Burke had Hood open on multiple skip passes in the game, but Trey couldn't pass the ball effectively to Hood. We did not pass the ball well to our shooters tonight.

Except for the time where he just dropped it out of bounds right ;)

We needed to have Hayward more involved throughout the fourth if we wanted him to be able to take over down the stretch. I actually think Snyder asks Hayward to step back every once in awhile to make some of the other guys step up - which is good for growth but can lead to some losses.

Played hard, close game, hit free throws, work on consistency in other areas as well. Still extremely young.

Yeah I was a little frustrated, but I think that's what Hayward needs to start doing to take that next step. Elite players take over when they are needed. Hayward has at times but not consistently throughout the year.

Wow there buddy, slow down there. I think his first step should be, "I'm going to look at the rim once this game".

Hell, just try to get to the line. If you turn it over, get a charge, so what. We ain't making the playoffs this year. Time to start working on your game.

Not when the game was on the line. Wall was 3 for 3 in the fourth. Hayward disappeared. All I was saying is that I would've like to see Hayward take over, but he didn't even seem engaged in the fourth until it was far too late.

So you are saying you are complete TONE IT DOWN. Hayward played a great game and he was great in the closing moments. The final TO is nothing, we had no chance to win the game at that point. He missed the final shot, ok. You can't make every game winner. Wall played well too but he was also being guarded by Trey Burke.

This. Zero points from your starting PG, and it's not the 1st time, won't win these kind of games.
At least Hayward said he rushed it in the postgame interview...

Snyder commenting on free throws. Post game. Says he was glad we were still in the game despite the missed free throws. Gave wall credit, said we weren't quite good enough defensively. Said the physicality of the game slowed us down. IOW didn't comment on the ft's when asked directly.

Didn't they used to say this about LeBron?

I just want to say I ****ing hate the pass charge call. The last one Gortat flopped hard (Favors had pretty much stopped when he got to him) and he also flopped hard when Hood "pushed" him in the back for a rebound.

People like to nitpick at the dumbest ish. There is something about the Hayward/Burke dynamic that throws Hayward off though. He does over dribble too much which takes the ball out of Hayward's hands where as when Exum plays there is usually more constant motion.

Snyder with positive things to say about the team overall. Says we had a group of twenty one year olds against some savvy veterans.
