Woj: Joe Ingles is finalizing deal to return to the Utah Jazz

The fry sauce knows.

Love the pink

The real question here, is what kind of avatar is Cy going to make Colton present. I hope it's not some dumb Mississippi college crap. I think it should be like a Bikini girl picture that normally makes him and Jason nervous around here.

Something barely legal.

I can't believe the reaction to this deal. You guys sound like we won the lotto. It is an ok contract. I would have preferred 3 years 12 million but I guess being the star player's buddy gets you more money. $52 million for a role player who scores 7 pts. a game seems like overpaying.

I know he shut down JJ Redick (don't get me started on his contract), but he was exposed during the Warrior's series. Welcome back Joe, I hope you earn your contract. I am just not as excited as most Jazz fans are about overpaying for a guys. I think this is overpaying but I guess we will have to wait and see.

Well he took less than he could have gotten elsewhere to stay here. I think the excitement is two-fold, one) we got Ingles back who was a top 3pt shooter in the league last year, two) he gave us a discount, overpay or not, he wanted to be here bad enough that he gave up 8 millions dollars over 4 years so he could play for the Jazz. If that doesn't earn a guy some love I don't know what does.

Cy lost the bet.

Exactly what are you trying to say here?

I read a study that says most basketball studies overshoot by 59 shots in order to come to a conclusion.

Regardless, even if Joe doesn't shoot as high of a % from 3 this year, I'd rather have his defense and playmaking skills than over similar players.

Also, don't know if anyone has noticed this, but Joe has ice water in his veins. His a unique player than can hit shots in a game where all his teammates are missing badly. This is a fact.

Nope. If you could add Hill for a reasonable amount, that's a tradable contract that could help you add an asset by dumping him at the deadline. Could acquire another pick and still avoid the tax. You can't pick up a player of that caliber otherwise, because we are over the cap.

However, I do believe Hill is done in Utah, as I think there is some bad blood. Not sure exactly why(could be one of several reasons), but there is a poster here that said something about it before the Rubio trade(forget his name).

Hill isnt signing with the Jazz to be trade bait...

I thought the bet was that someone would offer 15 per, not what he signed for. We have a report that Orlando was going to offer that much, just not that they did. They never got the chance.

Anyway, Colton thought Joe was MLE level or 10 at the most. Joe signed with Utah for 13 per without signing someone else's offer sheet. Maybe Colton wins on a technicality, but Cy was right. Somebody would have offered 15 and possibly more.

Being the stand up guy Colton is, I expect him to admit he was closer to wrong than right, and pay up on the debt he legitimately owes.

I don't think Colton lost. The $15M/per was rumored. It was never official. For all we know, it came from Joe's agent to drive up his price. How can you say "somebody would have offered $15M and possibly more?" And Boston would have gotten Paul George if not for some collusion between the Pacers and OKC.

TBH, I don't think anyone won. Perhaps CY was closer to what happened, but this wasn't a closest to the pin competition. Nobody won, nobody lost...unless you count Ingles!

I didn't say they are absolutely equal. But it has the potential to become bad IMO. Ingles just had his career year at age 29 when he bumped his % to 44-45% form 3. He has never shot over 40% in his career. It's only natural for him to regress some. And he also turned himself into an above average defender, which again will probably wane with him getting into his 30s.

I feel completely opposite. I think Joe's style allow him to play consistently for a long time. He uses his IQ more than physical ability.

Who says he is? If there was no bad blood, you sign him and see how things work out. Maybe he has the same kind of season he started with last year, in which case maybe Rubio becomes trade bait at the deadline. Maybe they both play well, and Utah decides to dump someone else.

The point is, when you have a chance to add a significant asset, at a time when your cap space is gone and there are NO OTHER similar opportunities, you'd be dumb not to consider every angle.

Whatever, I'm not going to argue this. It's far from common sense, when you have a capped out team that won't have opportunities to acquire a similar player of this caliber.
