Woj on Utah on the Russillo Show

Favors has a decent jumper and good low post moves, something Rudy still has not developed, and in fact, before his injuries was talking about developing a 3-point shot.

He does have a decent jumper. Good enough to hit wide open, not serious enough to commit guarding.

He is serviceable in the post. Unfortunately, spacing is nearly as important as skill in the post (which the Jazz will be seriously lacking for much of the time Favors is on the court) and it's just inefficient/bad basketball most of the time.

Having both he and Gobert on the floor is a net negative offensively.

Should have listened to a Haywards agent. He told the whole story. I know it could all be BS, but he sounded very sincere and it makes sense. I want him to be telling the truth and if he is it makes it harder to hate Hayward.

Gobert demands a lot of space when he is in the pick and roll. It really opens up the court and it helps when you have a big playing that can hit the open jump shot or be open to a pass while cutting to the rim with power. Gobert and Favor's played great together when healthy, I'm not sure why that would change. This was when we had nothing at PG. They played well together with burner Burkes and rookie Exum at the point. Why couldn't they play together with a great passing PG who sets players up well? People really over rate being able to get the 3 point shot. There are other ways to space the court. We can't beat GS at their game night as well play ours. I would like a 3 point shooting pf to give us options but that doesn't mean Gobert and Favor's can't work. Besides Favor's said he knows he needs to add a three point shot and has been working on it for a little while. He keeps moving his shot outward.

I wouldn't worry too much about scoring next season. Ricky Rubio is a blessing in disguise when rebuilding isn't an option and retooling/development is the course. He can shoulder a lot of playmaking and he's created scoring opportunities for teammates on Minnesota teams with worse spacing.
Ricky + 2 out of Hood/Ingles/Mitchell + Favors/Joe + Rudy is pretty potent. When Faves and Rudy share the court, he'll need to use his magic and create tiny windows by deceiving defenders, but with Joe keeping the lane clean, it'll be a pretty smooth situation.

I say trade Favors but do hI'm a solid at the same time. There's more than one good fit for him on a good or up and coming team. The goodwill bought by including him will be worth way more than the itty-bitty bit more you could have got from the highest bidder. Dude has earned it, imo.

They played well together because of their collective defense. Something that might not work anymore unless Favors regains footspeed that we haven't seen in quite a while now. Furthermore and perhaps most importantly, they've never performed very well together offensively.
