Woman Sues CVS over Racial Slur

The comment, and it's implications, stands on it's own, regardless of Cyrone Torbin's intents, feelings, or wishes. Intent is not magic, it doesn't change the meaning of words. Again, you haven't even tried to pretend the comment itself is defensible.

I really wish you could understand what I actually am saying about these things. I have never, not once, said that those white males were more racist or more sexist than a non-white or a female. I have specifically said otherwise, in fact. I have also said that the difference was how much they benefited from racism and sexism, not that they possessed it.

I did not compare white males to white females. I am using words I have seen you use before. You have identified white males before (not this thread).

Then perhaps you should stop trying to argue a point with me that I have never made.

I have, and in exactly the why I just described: as the ones who benefit more. Naturally, when you benefit more, you have more to lose.

For being such a smart guy, you sure seem to miss the obvious sometimes. Did you really think I wasn't aware that white people think suing for racism is some sort of lottery with jackpots at the end? You don't really think it's that simple, do you?

Holy crap. I'm saying they may pay her off to make this go away, which has been said several times.

She was insulted using a racial slur. That's bad. It's wrong. So, they may give her money even though her case may not be strong enough to win in court.

If the suit has no merit, CVS can actually get court fees back from the plaintiff. The national attention hasn't done them any damage so far.

There is no such thing as bad publicity, with very few exceptions. The fact that 99% of the United States (there is always that idiot 1%) who think that this is a joke, a waste of people's time, money and effort means that on some sort of level, the public has sympathy for CVS. Sympathy = Money. CVS would be spending one hundred times the money to have this kind of coverage on their store. Deep down, I bet the CEO of CVS has a woody blue veiner about all of this.

Plus juries can be unpredictable.

Do these types of cases actually go to a trial of some kind? I know that in smaller claims court, the judge has the final say.

Could you imagine if you were a homosexual black Asian born in Mexico and came here illegally? You'd have it made here! Handouts deluxe!

Could you imagine Ogathriller making a post that didn't suck?

Me either.

You have also described them as being racist by that same default.

One article I read called it a federal discrimination lawsuit. So based on that and the high dollar amount, I'm sure this would get to a jury (if it's not settled first).

No, I have described all people as being racist, as a consequence of our being human and engaging in human cognitive shortcuts.

So if every last one of us is racist and we can't help it, why do you feel the need to point it out so damn much?
