would you draft Embiid at 5

You know how it goes. Everyone wants to be one of the first to select from the just opened box.
Is Embiid like the yummy ones that people always fight over. Or is he the one that someone takes a bite out of, then hides in a wrapper so they can take a better one.
 
FYI, Andre Drummond had the same exact back problem that Embiid did. He's turned out fine injury wise so far. And most people were expecting him to have a slight stress fracture in his foot after his back injury, it's not like this wasn't expected by medical people.

I ain't worried.

Sam Bowie and Greg Oden had Michael Jordan and Kevin Durant on the board after them. Guys who easily dominated college basketball, and it was pretty well known that they were going to very, very good.

Guys like that aren't going to be on the board at #5. Therefore, your example is stupid, idiotic, and lacks foresight. I'm not surprised.

I'm not talking about who else is on board at the time you **** head. I'm talking about the history of injuries. Oden with the injury when he was being drafted. Bowie also had an un-detected injury that he had in college.

Danny Granger dropped after people freaked out over his knees a few days before the draft. He still had six nice years in Indiana before his old knee injuries came back to haunt him.

So your reasons for not taking the most talented player on the board at #5 are because some guys got hurt earlier? Well that's just outstanding logic.

Meanwhile, a player with the same injury that Embiid had, has come back perfectly fine. Lets just ignore that though.

A guy not having a shot is just as big of a reason to not draft somebody as an injury is. A guy not playing defense is just as big of a reason to not draft somebody as an injury is.

Maybe Embiid will stay constantly injured, but selecting him is the right choice if he's there. No doubt about it. Go big or go home.
 
This team is STACKED with better-than-average talent. Why anyone is all-in on grabbing another one of those guys when you could have a franchise player is beyond me.

to keep him on the board at #3 so they can still get Embiid but at a cheaper price and still acquire a second asset via trade from Philly
