Your friend/wife/brother/anyone that has some pull in your life......gets the genius idea that you should go on holiday to North Korea together .... You in?
 
Of course not. There would be a good chance I'm never coming back.

Just kidding. No. I wouldn't go. Too easy for them to accuse you of being a spy or whatever they feel like accusing you of.

THEN take a dump before one of the statues of kim jong un il and hurl it at the statues face.

then yell EAT **** in Korean. FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but first waiting for obama statue to erupt. first do it there. then fly to N korea
 
I think boredom would probably be my biggest hangup....I'm not a jump in a tour group and have somebody lead me around type of travel guy. And that's your only option there. No exploration allowed. However, It would be cool to get an on the ground peek at the place eventhough it's a limited look. Seeing the Mass Games in person would be mind blowing.

I definitely would be a little worried about even giving them the opportunity to snatch me, but not enough to not go. It's one thing to go somewhere where gangs and cartels could possibly nab you. You can avoid a lot of that with street smarts. None of that applies in North Korea. Sitting duck.
 
If it was free I would probably go.

No way in hell I would spend money to go to a place that might just suck though.

I pretty much will only go to tropical beaches if I'm leaving the county and paying with my own money
 
When it inevitably implodes it will be quite a tourist attraction. In fact who ever can get on the ground floor of that would probably make a **** ton of money.
 
I would love to go to the Country that invented hamburgers. Also I would really like to see the Unicorn caves, always thought the existed glad its been proven by them. Plus the books and operas that are the greatest every written are only found in North Korea so it would be a very rich experience. I would be considered literate there because I can spell Kim II-Sung. Although I would be worried about breaking a law there, not because I would be punished but for my grandchildren's sake, since they would be put in prison as well. Although weed is grown on the side of the roads every where so that would be nice. High on my list of things to do would be do join in their elections they have where there is only one name on the ballot.
 
On a side note. I would really like to read the book Kingdom of Kim. I think it is only in Korean though.

SafetyDan is there anyway you can search for this book in Korean and tell me if it exists in English. It is hard to search in English for it.

Its about a film producer Shin Sang-ok who was kidnapped and forced to make films for North Korea. He letter escaped and wrote memoirs. I think this book would be really interesting. I guess his actress wife was kidnapped and he followed her trail to Hong Kong where he was kidnapped as well. Well I guess they were abducted?, since they are not kids.

Nor do I have much interest even if I had a guarantee of a safe trip.

I do think vietnam could be cool. Those cu chi tunnels would be awesome to check out!
 
I wouldn't be afraid to go.. but this feels like some double-dog dare or something.. I'll just have an extended layover in Amsterdam instead.
