Cy voted no. I was curious because Cy is Exum's biggest critic who actually watches the game with an analytical eye. Y'all can go ahead and lock this thread now.

This is where I am at. I expect that for the next two years, we will see huge year to year leaps in Exum's game. He is very young, and we have seen before what happens when very young guys with huge talent figure it out.
 
Lavine went for 22 pts, 7 rebs and 3 ast (at the SG spot) on 58% shooting last ngiht.

The bad (or good news) was he had 7 TO's. I honestly don't mind young studs turning the ball over, as it means they are trying new things and progressing. Lebron, Westrbook, James Harden, etc. all turn the ball over a lot, because they are being aggressive. Not always a bad thing.
 
Exum's 12 ast was dope, though. His one field goal was pretty cool too. It's actually what allowed him to get so many assists. If only he could do it more often, the rest of the game would open up for him.
 
I'd stick with Exum. I think he projects to be a very good player overall. I'll admit to having not seen much of Lavine though. Frankly the little I've seen from Lavine made me think he was destined to be a huge chucker that puts up stats but does not help a team win. Ala Kanter and Al. His defense was pathetic in the little I've seen him play.

Botton line is I like what I've seen from Exum and think that he had a big jump to the NBA. I see him improving a lot over the next few years, and like that he's developing without getting a bunch of bad habits. That may be a problem for Lavine going forward.

Exum played really well following the all star break and I think the rest assisted with that. I think Exum essentially hit the wall twice. The second time coming after the all star break winning streak. I think the kid is tired and ready for the off season.

Sorry if some or all of this has been covered I did not read the entire thread before posting this.
 
I get why people would trade them. However, I wouldn't. Exum's offense is a concern but his defense is pretty good already and he's just a rookie, and this season just feels like a red shirt year to me for him. I still see the enormous potential in him, but worry a bit about his intensity. Still, the only reason it's not a lot is because how young he is.

Would def do that for Russell, but would not include Exum in a trade up for Mudiay. We would essentially be swapping one question mark for another, while giving up a valuable asset in order to do so. I would however trade our pick, Trey Burke, OKC 1st, & GSW 1st (+ as many 2nd rd picks as they want) for Mudiay. Doubt LAL would give up an opportunity to draft their heir apparent to Kobe for spare parts, although they do desperately need not just quality, but quantity as well, but considering the fact that we're talking about the Lakers, I would assume that they assume that they can just buy whatever quality or quantity it is that they need.
