As far as differences, I think Burke looks more for his shot than Stockton did, but that's something that he may mature out of as he competes in the NBA and realizes that it's much harder at the higher level.

Huh? That was one of Stockton's only drawbacks. He SHOULD have scored more to take some pressure off of his teammates and also to give himself more and/or better passing opportunities (there have been some rule changes that make it more important for each player to be an offensive threat as well). A pure point that understands and can utilize an efficient and balanced scoring attack is a rare and very desirable thing.

Trey Burke should be the early favorite for Rookie of the Year as the starter in Utah."

Thought that was cool.

Agreed. Didn't he shoot something like 50% from 3 point land? To me, that means he did not shoot enough 3s.

Stock definitely should have shot more. But his mentality was such that he put the needs of his team before his own. Honor before reason and all that.

Still stuck by his first question to Donyell Marshall when he met him at the airport after the trade that brought him here. His first words?

"Where do you want the ball?"

Good times, good times.

Don't let Corbin see this. He won't play him until December just to make sure Trey doesn't have unrealistic expectations coming into Utah. Wins, playoffs, personal awards...those aren't what's important in Utah. What's important is that Corbin gives vets the respect the deserve, even, actually, especially if they suck.

Gary Parrish from CBS Sports:

9. Trey Burke: I had Burke going second overall in my mock draft even though I knew that probably wouldn't happen. I just wanted to make a point about how much I like him, and so I was hoping he'd land in a nice spot where he'll be able to flourish. Utah is that spot. Burke will be the NBA Rookie of the Year. I'd take odds on that right now.

Those writers NUMB quoted don't know the Jazz very well. If Burke starts, I agree that he should be the early favorite to win ROY. But until we see what happens in FA, I'm going to continue to be scared out of my mind that we do something bat ****ing crazy like bring Mo back.

I really want Burke to start from day one or as close to day one as possible. I'm not usually advocate rookies starting but this is my exception. Odds are we are going to have are pretty awful bench this year and I don't want trey playing with that unit.
