So the Zeller and KCP picks were key in obtaining Burke. Most thought those two would be drafted AFTER Trey. Pushed him down the board a couple of spots

I knew Zeller going that high was huge. Once KCP went 8th, I started believing. So, yeah.

BTW, I don't really understand the KCP pick. Do the Pistons just hate point guards?

Smokescreens!

Jazz were reported to be in love with Zeller and CJ McCollum. Chad Ford repeatedly claimed the Jazz loved those guys.
Reality is that they wanted those guys off the board before Burke.

Wow is this for real? Has Burke now got the number #3???

Sorta?

But DeMarre Carroll has a hold on No. 3 w/ Jazz until his free-agency situation's resolved. He's a strong candidate to be re-signed by Utah.

Jazz rookie Trey Burke prefers No. 3—and that jersey is apparently on sale today at Fanzz. (h/t @Utah_JazzNation)

Here's more juicy info:

Bill Oram ‏@tribjazz 1m
Burke's top jersey choices are 3, 8 and 1. 3 is Carroll's, 8 is Foye's, 1 is retired for Frank Layden. If Carroll & Foye re-sign, who knows

He better get #3 and not #33.

Cant imagine a good PG wearing #33

Well when negotiating DeMare's contract, I think it would be wise for the Jazz to tell him "Hey would you mind considering another number? We can add 100k to your contract if you'd like" I'm pretty sure DeMare would say "Yes."

Then as a PR stunt, have DeMare say to the press that as a courtesy he'd chosen another number, knowing that Burke would play for the Jazz for a long time to come...
