Adrian Griffin, Quin Synder, and Alvin Gentry all have been asked to come back for second interviews with the Jazz regarding their head coach vacancy.

In a scenario with all three of these guys being the final three finalists for the job..

Who would you want the Jazz to hire?

I dunno, very tough choice...this is like asking someone what smells better, cat **** or dog ****?

Jeff Van Gundy had some really nice things to say about the job, the millers, and the team's position last week on 1280. If he is available after he's done calling the Finals, I would love him. Otherwise, I am interested in Griffin, but it's just a feeling I have. A feeling is a stupid thing to base a coaching hire on.

Between Griffin and Snyder, I'd rather have Snyder based off what I've read on Wikipedia.

Snyder has a ton of experience in many different facets of basketball. He has coached College, D-League, and European basketball and seen success on all levels. Why wouldn't that trend continue in the NBA? I like a guy who has experience under his belt.

Adrian Griffin is young and relatively inexperienced. The best thing you can say about him is he has coached under Thibs. Corbin coached under Sloan though, so it's not like coaching under a great coach makes you a great coach.

I'm sure the Jazz have privately asked about his interest and he declined. He'd have the job IMO if he wanted it. My guess for him is he will look for a situation similar to his brothers if he gets back in.

Back to topic. I'm in on Snyder out of these guys. Good coaching tree, winner at different levels, young, players love him and he's bright (MBA and JD from Duke).

Oh and I like that Snyder has actually been a head coach at some level.

Osmosis is a proven scientific fact. Haven't you heard Boylen is the reason the Spurs are in the Finals?

I can't lie, I'm kinda bummed that were are down to those three guys. Quin Snyder burned the Missouri program to the ground and he has a questionable background. Adrian Griffith was an NBA grinder who has never been a head coach. Alvin Gentry coached a fast paced team in Phoenix, but they couldn't play a lick of defense.

At least they aren't Jim Boylen. I'd be down at the ESA with pitch forks if we hired Boylen.

Defense should be the #1 priority. Adrian Griffin has the best defensive background with his career and Thibs.

But I trust DL as that is a priority with him also. So if Quinn was hired that would be fine with me also.

I do not want Gentry though as his teams have been horrible and the worst on defense. Unless his first assistant was some master defensive mind. Even then I am unsure.

But DL admitted the coaching decision isn't really up to him. He puts the list together, narrows the number of candidates, but then they have to kumbaya around the Miller family campfire and see who cooks the best s'mores.
