Zach LaVine anyone?

I've been thinking about what position we will target in the draft and who would be available, I've been a fan of LaVine's for a while, been watching a fair few UCLA games to watch the guy and was thinking, would he be someone Utah should target?

He's an explosive guard who has A LOAD of potential, he's raw, young but the talent is obviously there. His athleticism is unreal and he's a good shooter. Me personally would love to see Jazz draft him, quite frankly he would bring some excitement here. He's struggling at the moment in March Madness but the talent and potential is there, trust me.

He has been struggling since he got put in the lottery. I am not as high on him. I like KA and Adams on UCLA. I think LaVine should stay in school and improve his game. However, I might consider him with our second round pick.

LaVine is a stud. if he declares his stock will rise at the combine/workouts

Would be a complete idiot to enter the draft.

Go back to school, developed that 14-year old body frame he has, and lead UCLA next year.

its funny you trash LaVine for his frame which is similar to Exum's, Carter-Williams and Ben McLemore(189lbs)

but your beloved Otto Porter is skinnier than Kevin Durant, howd he get a pass from you on that?

Not "trashing" him, I really like him, but he has no benefit of coming out now.

I never overlooked Porter's body when I liked, I just liked him relative to other players available. If I thought Porter could have improved his game and draft stock by staying another year, I would have thought he should have stayed another year.

Lavine isn't NBA ready and could potentially hurt himself. He will be a starter on UCLA next year and will basically have 0% chance of not being a 1st rounder as long as he isn't awful.

LaVine has been straight trash in the tourney so far. The fetish over him pretty much focuses entirely on his athletic ability.

theres lots of guys with huge verticals that dont get a sniff of the nba or anywhere close, Walt Lemon of bradley reportedly has a 48" vertical

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dK5Nb_T-jc8 - this dude has a 58" vert

LaVine isnt a 1 trick pony hes not the Jeremy Evans of guards, his size and athleticism are key but hes got ample skill he can shoot(40% from deep), flash some very nice passes along with some nice dribbling ability and at times has showed the ability to stay infront of some quick guards on defense (Jahii Carson)

hes gone from 167lbs and 6'3" in shoes in 2012 to 6'5" 180lbs any team selecting him is going to be well aware that hes early in his progression, and developing rapidly. its hard to imagine LaVine gets drafted and is asked to do too much next year in the NBA, hes a project but should be able to contribute some shooting and transition fireworks

i dont see LaVine cracking the top 8 in the 2015 draft, so if his evaluation says hes projected to be in the top 20 this year i dont know why he wouldent declare to avoid being the next James McAdoo, Perry Jones or Glenn Robinson III

No, he's not ready. Cy is right, go back 1 more year to lead the team ala MCW and he could even be a top 5 pick next year.

He has cooled off alot but from my eyes an just raw gifts Zach LaVine has top 3 upside in this draft do you agree?

LaVine has cooled down from his hot start. But it's always been about potential with him anyway. Great size for his position, lethal jump shooter and a great athlete. And most scouts believe he could play some point in the NBA. I think Jamal Crawford might be a good comp though LaVine is a better shooter. He'll go somewhere in the late lottery to mid first round if he declares. He could be a Top 10 pick however with another year at UCLA.

I would consider him with the GS pick.

I would just quit basketball if we took him with our first pick. Terrible value.
