Zach Lowe on Jazz' starting lineup

The thing that made Nash/Kobe so bad (and what I am not alone in forseeing problems with) is that the way both of those guys are good and excel is by having the ball in their hands, so it mitigated both of their strengths. But that’s Nash and Kobe. Even if you take away what makes them shine, both of those guys can shoot the ball. If Kobe and Nash can shoot the ball but doesn’t work playing them off ball, a complete moron would know that Ricky won’t work off ball.
It was because Nash was washed up af and they had Howard's worst season to work with.

They didn't fit.
Because Nash was 38 year old and got injured, Kobe got injured a few times, Howard had an attitude problem from day 1, Pau was recovering from an serious injury, iirc.

No one can make me believe 34 years old Nash and Kobe wouldn't fit.

Don’t love it (still a fan of Rodney). . . but if the Jazz aren’t sold on keeping him long term, then I can easily live with that deal. Especially if it saves Utah from using a 1st round pick to either A.) move Rubio or B.) add Fournier. Plus, they still have the contracts of Favors, Joe Jesus, Burks, Thabo and Jerebko to make additional moves - now or during the draft.

Kobe has never worked well with another real ballhandler.

Why did DL trust 1 month hot streak over over 6 years sample of horrible shooting? Yes, it was 1 month!
Here are his splits:
Oct 0%
Nov 28%
Dec 29%
Jan 28%
Feb 32%
Mar 44% <- this is his whole "turning of the corner"
Apr 15%

Those 44% are 18 makes out of 41 attempts, that's on less than 3 attempts per game. Why would anyone think this exact month is representative of his shooting when he's never been a good shooter?

lmao. oh my **** balls. how did he even get to 40% on the season? thats brutal.

I think players the caliber of Kobe work with every roster.

You mean there is nothing proven? I agree with that. The thing is Lakers never needed a ball-handler, their resources were better spent elsewhere, but it doesn't mean it wouldn't work.

If there is anything that didn't fit with that Lakers team, it was their egos.
