He was a key piece, not a core piece. Big difference. If he was a core piece, they wouldn't be trying to dump him and use assets to do it.

And this last season, Lee was DNP-ed for half of it and played 18 mpg in the games he did play. Green was a rotation player previous to this season, he became a core piece this year, which is precisely what made Lee expendable and not a core piece.

Sounds more like splitting hairs to me. Hood averaged 21 mpg, Im pretty sure everyone refers to him as a core piece.

The point was they added Igoudala before the whole Lee not playing many minutes thing, while he was still considered part of the "core" (which I believe includes Green).

Steve Kyler tweeted (and he knows Tobias very well) that they have talked with several teams that asked not to be disclosed (sounds like a Jazz thing to me). Boston is likely the frontrunner. Why wouldn't the Jazz want their name out there with these free agents? Because we have to cut ties with Booker to sign one... if it doesn't work out you don't want Book to hear all about how you tried to get this other guy but couldn't get it done.

We likely make only minor moves, but that doesn't mean we aren't in on bigger ones.

I've been a Jazz fan long enough to know that there are never rumors until something happens. When they go after someone or try to make a trade they do it quietly. It's few and far between but when it happens there is never any warning.

I can understand that logic on the trade market, where you're talking about changing players lives without their consent. But free agency? Seriously, what's the downside (unless it means it requires a trade to facilitate)? You may be right that the Jazz are sending out overtures using guys wearing trenchcoats and sunglasses at night handing out envelopes, or using Darth Vader voice changers and calling from pay-phones, but I think they're resigned to their fate. They've had max cap room for five offseasons, and not a ****ing peep.

We are simply arguing whether or not David Lee and Draymond Green were "core pieces" at simultaneous points during the Warriors history.

the whole point to the GSW is they added Iggy to a developing core without a clear fit... Barnes was an up and comer and moved to the bench. A year and a half later they moved Iggy to the bench and got a lucky injury to Lee and found out they are a better small ball team (likely would have figured it out either way, but the injury expedited the process). Last year Barnes was upset about coming off the bench (so it may have disrupted chemistry).

This year the pieces came together and they would likely not have won the championship without Iggy. They could have stood pat, but instead used assets (first round picks to clear space), and also sent away Carl Landry and Jarret Jack... guys who were key role players... to acquire what eventually came to be the finals MVP. Just add talent when possible... if we can talk them into signing we can figure the rest out.
