What's new

Monday Spurs VS Jazz 7 PM ET ---- Front row seat!

Rudy Gobert last two games

oRTG = 97.8
dRTG = 83.5
netRTG = 14.3

Enes Kanter last two games

oRTG = 126.5
dRTG = 93.6
netRTG = 32.9

Two games is a small sample size so lets not jump to conclusions but I am willing to be this UTA team will be top 5 in defense next year.

Using both offensive rating and defensive rating for individual players is completely useless because of the dozens of variables dependent on teammates and opposing players.

I have pointed this out to you before yet you continue to use the stat.

Thanks for asking. Pops was one scary character during timeouts tonight, I think age is starting to kick in and he's becoming more of a caricature of his angry self. At least from what I saw tonight... a few ugly words thrown out and he really really was on Green's case during the entire game, to the point that it was comical, even the guy next to me was cracking up about it. Who knows what the deal is there...

Duncan clearly frustrated after being 'Gobliterated' in the 1st quarter, people were going crazy. Let's see what else... oh yeah that female assistant of theirs is kind of hot.

Perhaps Danny Green's days as a spur are counted. He is usually the target of Popovich's frustration. I feel bad for Duncan haha, Gobert just murdered him in the first quarter. Seems you had a lot of fun!

Regardless, it was one of his better games. Had 2 steals, looked less petrified than usual, and played GREAT defense. He just doesn't really look to score.

So I guess my question is, what was different in the first few minutes? Going way back the Jazz used to run two or three plays for Eaton in the first quarter, then go back to 4 low. Are the jazz running stuff for Exum in the first, then just parking him in the corner?

damn spurs fans are really dumb. I remember seeing good post from portland forum. Spurs fans don't know **** lol They will pro cheer for rockets in few years.

they were terrible, really cocky. Wouldn't stop whining about the ref's calls, how bad parker, manu, duncan, leonard were...how they need to blow out the team, that popovich has no clue, etc. Incredible.

There was one sequence in the 4th where it looked like they were going to call timeout and Pop just turned his back and waved his hand as if to say forget it. Pretty funny.

Do you want to use rebounds per game, assists per game, or even points per game instead? No matter what you look at except blocks Kanter graded out better in a 2 game stretch. My point wasn't even these two games Kanter played better. I simply said in 2 game stretches numbers shouldn't be trusted as it is a small sample size but you immediately and obliviously jump disagreeing with everything I say without knowing what you are talking about.

Gregg Popovich on the Jazz postgame: "I think (Jazz) they were great. Quin and the staff have done a great job of getting their system and intstilling the aggressiveness and the physicality that's needed to win games in the NBA. They played unselfishly, they believed in each other, I thought they were tremendous. It was fun to watch.

True, but it wasn't like this was a gift package with a bow that was given to us. Trey had a great shooting night, but:

1) I hardly ever complain about refereeing, but there were a ton of terrible calls tonight and almost all of them weren't in our favor. The Duncan foul on the Hayward 3 at the end of the half comes to mind, but there were a half dozen other calls that were highly, highly suspect.

2) A lot of those turnovers were due to our defensive pressure. Dante was awesome in shutting down Parker and forcing a whole bunch of extra passes - they didn't succeed at all with the Parker PNR.

3) This wasn't Favors best night - and he still wound up with a double-double. But we can look forward to even better play from him as he gets more comfortable playing at the top of the post.

TLDR: There were a whole bunch of things that didn't go our way as well, but the combination of some good breaks with Trey's offense and our defense being so good, it ultimately didn't matter.

This play frustrated me to a great extent. I'll shoot myself in the leg if I didn't see the ref attempting to go review the play, and as the Spurs players and Pops rushed into the locker room he tip-toed back from doing so.
