Burke seems to be thriving off the bench. Is he humble enough to become our sixth man, and play the Manu Ginobili role for our team? You should remember humility in your intentions...

Also, I unfortunately cannot take apart of this "exorcism"... I am only a young padawan myself and I am ill equipped for such matters. Perhaps one day I will (but in obedience I would need my Bishop's permission.)

P.S. I hope everyone understands this thread and my post is written in jest.

Have you seen this before?

"My rookie year we were playing the Chicago Bulls, and this is Michael Jordan’s third or fourth year in. And we were playing an exhibition game...most veterans do not like to play in exhibition games, they want to get to the real thing. I’m a wide-eyed, energetic rookie and...Michael’s going through the motions. And Chuck Person—who’s on my team—who is a trash-talker as well, is like, "Can you believe Michael Jordan, the guy everyone’s talking about, who’s supposed to be able to walk on water? You’re out here killing him, Reg! ... You should be talking to him!" And I was like, "You know what, you’re right!" "Michael...who do you think you are? The great Michael Jordan? That's right, there’s a new kid on town!" He kind of looks at me and starts shaking his head. So at half I have 10, and he has four points...end of the game, the second half, he ended up with 44 and I ended up with 12. So he outscored me 40-2. Burke has been showing some excellent stuff lately. We are experiencing one of those Hayward and Favors leaps in his offensive game IMO. I've been very impressed with his pick and roll moves in particular. It's honestly brought back that hope for CP3 potential. I know that's not going to happen, obviously, but the kid is getting hella deceptive on his drives, freezing bigs out and blowing past them. It's been fun to watch develop.

Once he starts making the shots he's confident in, it's simply going to take our team to another level. Favors especially could be the recipient of easy buckets. That 10-footer he's been automatic with (as of late) is just huge, huge , huge for his offensive game. Really exciting to watch.
 
Side note: The exorcism continues. Let's not get comfortable, gentlemen.
 
I like Burke. It's good that the work on his game is starting to become apparent. Anyone that works as hard as he does has a great deal of potential.

Thing I've noticed more than anything is his hesitation dribble and decision making -- forcing them to decide first and then taking advantage. People might call it chucking or selfish or bitch about assists, but he is forcing his will onto opponents and them making the correct decision whether to drive or to pass. That's why I think improving his layup is more important than making a midranger. He's getting better at cutting down on the low % midrange shots and increasing either roll layup efficiency or his own, based on what the defense offers him.
 
Looked back through his last 15 games. This kid has insane ****ty shooting nights on the reg. 0 for 10, 2 of 11, 3 of 12. If he fixes whatever the hell is happening during those slump nights he's going to be a helluva lot better.

Simply spot-on analysis IMO. I understand that many have beef with the shots that Burke is taking-- but a lot of these shots really are good shots. From the eye-test, it seems like his lay-ups are getting better (not sure if the stats back this up). I'm fine with the three-point attempts he's taking.

The only big ***** in his armour right now, is his fast-break decision-making. It's definitely the next thing he needs to work on. Offensively & defensively he really is improving. It would be foolish to trade him now, as many are clamouring.

I've completely stopped complaining about Burke now that he's a bench guy. He's improving, and he's where he should be. Good for him for taking this transition so professionally and continuing to work hard.
 
Since the AS break he is shooting 42% overall and 36% from 3. Not setting the world on fire, but better. Coming off the bench allows him to be in more PnR vs. our motion offense. He can shot hunt with that second unit because many of them suck at creating offense or shooting. It is a good role for him. It simplifies the game for him and helps him relax. Happy he has accepted it thus far. He is a valuable, but not irreplaceable, contributor now.

Are people still bitching about his shots? What I'm seeing is a guy freezing everyone in the paint and then diving. It's a huge step forward. Next is hitting those layups and the step after that is diving with an option of search dribbling for corners and cutters.

Exum's D is impressive

Burks will live up to his contract enough to where it is not an "albatross". Possibly fully earn it.

Agreed on the overall improvement. Burke is awesome with his stutter that freezes his defenders. Also his little floater in the lane is starting to drop.
