I believe he will be a restricted free agent. if he were a couple of years younger i would be concerned, but dont really see anyone making him that big of an offer.

Yes he is under contract this year and next. The only reason Portland could steal Mathews after his first year is because he wasn't on a "Rookie" Contract he was undrafted Rookie which means a 1 year type deal. Evans is on a basic 2nd round draft pick type rookie contract. I don't have the link that explains the rookie contracts but I am sure if you ask nice or use google you can get it.

The rookie contract for 2nd round picks is actually 3 years. Just like with Paul Millsap. The Jazz have the option to pick it up next year and the year after that.
