What's new

Predicting it now.

The Pelicans make the playoffs by having the same record has the thunder. The Pelicans own the tiebreak with the thunder.

The thunder will look back to the Utah game and know if they had won they would be in the playoffs.

Which means we will have cost them the playoffs. Or Kanter cost them.

Its now official that OKC is out. I am sure that they will be looking back on a lot of close games that they should have won that would have propelled them across the threshold into the playoffs. When they played the Jazz, it was business as usual for them when the game started. What sets that game apart from others, (besides being a loss within the last month of the regular season) is Kanter's post game comment and Booker's response speaking on behalf of the team and shutting Kanter down. Scott Brooks was not happy with Kanter's comments after the game. I am not saying that the loss and Kanters arrogance is the reason why the Thunder are not in the playoffs, I am just saying that it feels good to see them fall short. ☺

OKC is not in the playoffs directly due to Kanters abysmal defense. Something like a 7 pt per 100 possession allowed swing with kanter on or off the floor. That 7 could easily have been 1 more win which puts them in the playoffs. Kanter was the direct cause.

I gotta figure out how to use this new found talent...

Your clairvoyance has been proven.

Fall in love with a draft pick, and make a prayer thread for him.

Make sure you do your homework beforehand tho.

Better yet, fall in love with a bouncing ping pong ball combination and cause it to give us the first pick.

Not usually how it works, Joe (in previous experiences at least).

Sounds to me like you are creating artificial barriers in your own mind by limiting our outcomes only to what is possible. Broaden your thinking, my friend.

Also, we would be back in the situation of maxing a point guard, which has never won a championship for anyone, ever.

The past as perfect predictor of the future. I see.

I have several problems with this argument. First it relies on an arbitrary position definition. A future maxed steph curry could never bring a championship but kobe could. Why exactly?

Isiah and magic were top 10ish in the league in salary. 2.5 mil or so. You can argue it was so different back then but I would reply that if you are ignoring data from 25 years ago your data is not significantly significant. And yes there was no cap but there was unwritten collusion on salaries with maxes in the 2~3 million range.

So hey I see the argument to not overpay for a commoditized position, but let's not get carried away. You'll have a title from a maxed pg in the next 10 years and look back on this statement differently.
