I missed the first part, came in the middle him talking point guards.

Did I just hear him lay the groundwork for saying goodbye to Trey?

Favors is a funny guy.

We shouldn't apologize for Utah or Salt Lake, we have a lot to offer nba players. Guys who leave appreciate what they had. There are some players that wouldn't fit. That is part of the selection process. Jazz like guys with strong family influence, guys that have significant other, and significant others with children.

Jazz players as a group stay focused on preparing each day. Lindsey doesn't want to give a goal of number of wins or say they are going to make the playoffs, they want to stay focused on e goal of staying true to the process and working hard day to day.

We will look at using every single dollar on free agents this summer. But don't want to lock up money that ties hands for the ability to resign Rodney and Rudy and Trey. We will have to make tough decisions going forward, but we can keep this group together.

Nba Basketball is not about getting any particular win it is about being the last man standing.
 
I like that despite how awesome the Jazz finished the season he is focused and dedicated to what got us here. Careful planning and wise choices. Keep it up DL!

Also I'd be thrilled to be in the Jazz FO this summer... I think we would all be surprised with the things that get considered and tossed around.

Since becoming the GM, DoL hasn't been active. He has been hyper active. I expect another summer of fireworks. Anything less than 40 free agents scrubs and three players traded will be a disappointment. If the jazz keep all three draft picks I will be stunned.

lol, I think that is a little high but I fully expect DL to do his homework and lok at numerous scenarios. I'm fully expecting a trade. Possibly on draft day.
 
The few takeaways I think I took from the interview:

- Tomic is likely coming over. Mentioned Quin knew we had his rights before taking the job and that he spent some time coaching in those leagues and is familiar with the players. He knew Joe before we signed him and likely was a big part of that decision.

-We will try to move up in the draft. When asked about bringing in vets/FA he mentioned that one of the ways to improve was to move up the draft board.

-Cotton will be staying on the roster.

-Neto ain't coming over this year.

- I don't think Trey is going anywhere. DL mentioned he like Quin's ability to develop players. When asked about acquiring vets he kind of implicated that they'd prefer to develop guys. If Trey makes the similar jump many other point guards do in their third year he'll either be a valuable contributor or a decent trade piece.

- We will kick the tires on a big acquisition that accelerates the process, but it sounds like the that there is a small chance the pieces will fit.

I like DL... works hard and is somewhat transparent about what they are working on without giving up specifics. Much more insightful than KOC and his "no comments" although I understand why KOC was that way.
 
There was an interview a week or so ago wherein DoL mentioned how the nba was changing and with the success of this team playing with Gordon and Rodney initiating the offense that finding a pass first point gaurd had become less important. I thought it was a subtle suggestion that Neto was not in their plans.

These two sentences seem contradictory.

Most important part of the interview right here. What he was able to do to trade for Trey and still get Rudy, makes me believe he means it and just might find a way to get Winslow/Hezonja or at the least Johnson.

That's what I thought when I heard it. It just seemed like he was gushing over Byce Cotton and Dante and then was then was way less excited about said Trey.

Locks podcast does a breakdown of the Lindsey interview. Lock believes the jazz have identified their strength as coaching young talent. They are reluctant to bring in old veterans because it goes away from their coaches strengths.

Incidentally, listen to the lock podcast, he thinks the organization decided in the preseason to trade Kanter. They kept him starting and playing hoping to improve his value. The early season offers for Kanter were a couple of second round picks. Locke thought it was a credit for Lindsey to snatch all the assets he did for Kanter.

I like it. I don't want the Jazz to screw this process by rushing to be a playoff late seed. Don't do it like the Pelicans. The team is in a unique situation to build together. Sure there will be some retouches, but going for the young talent is the way to do it and earn more time for mistakes while creating excitement for the achievement of young players that are yet to show what they got instead of a 29 year old acquired by trade that will push you to 8th seed but nothing more.
