Forum idea; spend rep points

On second thought, I'll offer 30 of my rep points to just ban him now.

Please consider.

I know this is grossly undercutting an offer to ban another person. But if we clean up the rep system, perhaps we should look into ways to spend rep points?

Interesting. Problem is rep is/can be inflated especially by specific groups (cough -- Chooo Chooo). Although I like it generally, I think rep is broken enough that this would get ugly.

My two cents...

I didn't know Colton was part of any rep trains?

Is it a good enough idea to think of ways to mitigate that from happening?

Let's say we start everyone back at zero. No, fools, I don't feel sorry for you; rep isn't worth crap as it is now anyway. It's not like you're really loosing anything.

If we give people things that they can spend rep on, would that alone be enough? It takes someone what... a month to go from 0-100? Even with chuggalugga choochoo rep abilities...

Things like Custom management tags... custom management tags and/or avatars for other posters post reduction, altered rep points, "tokens" for every 100 Rep Adjustment Power they get that would allow users to purchase something like custom ad banners Available for a few days/weeks/whatever.

If the underground reproad becomes too big a problem, maybe make rep less meaningful, or non existent for subforums?

Admin, is there any way to turn off rep per user? Meaning, if I wanted rep to be turned off for my profile as well as the ability to like my posts could that be accomplished?

It would lead to oligarchic anarcy. There would be a rep strong group to ban anyone they want without any democtatic and just motive need to show to the community. The only logical upgrade that could be made to the current system is to remove the cap and monitor rep activity to bring law to overrepping within rep gangs. But this would require an insanely more amount of moderating so it is undo-able. I will contact colton in a few days and ask him to do me.

I joked that a ban could be bought... but I understand entirely that it's not really an option.

Now, banning someone from a specific forum(Utah Jazz, General Discussion, General Sports) if enough of the 100's got in on it together might be, so long as it's only a week or so. But then again, if you've got cool stuff to spend your rep on, and a cap at 100, who would wait that long? Your target must really be an awful poster, and perhaps deserves a time out if that's the case.

And no, I'm pretty sure colton will not do you. I don't care how many rep points you have, I'm pretty sure prostitution will not be on the list available for purchase.
