I remember one guy going on repeatedly about defense wins ,even saying it was the San Antonio's defense that won over Miami (SMH),I said show me one headline saying that ....across the country it was about San Antonio's offensive flow that destroyed Miami's will to win.

( Defense wins. Or maybe not. If Clippers beat the Rockets defensive teams left will rank 1,7,15 and 20. Offenses will rank 1,2,4 and 6)

Golden State will be a special team if they can be ranked #1 in defense and offense ,but when you watch them ....it's their offensive execution that is hardest to stop

I know Utah will have a great friggin defense next year BUT the real good teams will still outscore them in a lower scoring game

Ultimately Utah has to get better in offense to win those lower scoring games

Utah definitely needs to improve their offense, but our defense has already made us a better road team than we've been since the S&M days. We need to balance things out a bit, but our defense will be the difference in being a good team and being elite.

Let's see, our defense improved dramatically while our offense really remained about the same, even dropped off a bit, and we turned in one of the better performances post-all-star of any team last year. Next!

Offense is ultimately easy, as everyone wants to score. Defense is harder because not everyone gives maximum effort of that side of the ball. Utah is doing it right with creating a defensive culture. Then, comes the offense. I think Alec Burks who is a natural and creative offensive player will help a lot.

Wasn't our offense ranked 15th this year? That's pretty amazing for how bad it seemed. Especially with Exum starting and Gobert.

One thing we will need to see is good defense paying off as easy offense by us scoring more hoops in transition. Fortunately much of this will be accomplished by our players becoming a lot less green and learning the games and tendencies of their opponents. You saw this as Gobert learned to solve for LeMarcus Aldridge. Once the light came on for Gobert, Lemarcus really had difficulty doing anything with Gobert. That carried over to later games. Once the rest of the team gets familiar with the other players, they will force more turnovers in addition to stellar positional defense (knowing which guys to leave open in order to gamble for the steal for instance. . .)

It took me 5 minutes of reading and rereading the posts to figure out that you only moved the commas, and then another 5 minutes to figure out why. Next time screw with the guy who made the title, and leave my little blue brain alone. Now I gotta go bust off some caps to take out my frustrations. I think I'll drive by happy's house, as I saw him over at smurfette's yesterday.

Or you can look at the track record for the last 30 years and draw a conclusion with a real sample size.

Last year:

Heat #2 offense, #11 defense
Spurs #6 offense, #4 defense

But please, tell me more about how having a better offense was more important in the Finals last year.

Teams that have won a title being ranked 10th or worse on offense (since the NBA/ABA merger):

'10 Lakers (11th)
'08 Celtics (10th)
'04 Pistons (18th)
'99 Spurs (11th)
'94 Rockets (15th)
'90 Pistons (11th)
'79 Sonics (14th)
'78 Bullets (10th)

Teams that have won a title being ranked 10th or worse on defense (since the NBA/ABA merger):

'01 Lakers (21st)
'95 Rockets (12th)
'82 Lakers (10th)

Draw your own conclusions.
