Lowe: Gobert needs a post game for the Jazz to contend

My dream is for him to be able to hit the jumper from the right side of the free throw line where he spends 50% of his time when holding the ball waiting for someone to come open. Ain't no undersized dude going to defend that, and it isn't that much different from a free throw where Rudy hits better than 50% If he could hit a few of those a game that interior pass he is looking for would be open at a much higher percentage. His quick enough that if a large dude tries to defend him out there he could move around him for the dunk. We wouldn't have to alter the offense at all to accommodate Rudy on that shot.

Exactly.

As stated he will punish teams on the O boards, easpecially if they go small ball. But it talks about his scoring ability on O. Well there is more than one way to do that. I would like to see moves that relate to his current strength of his height and length. Not ground breaking changes but some improvement. One of the three I mentioned is a J out to the FT line. Even if he hits those at a 44% clip that is enough to go with his dunks and O boards. Make it impossible to small ball him. Especially on D when he racks up the blocks and holds opponents to a very poor % inside the paint.

I'm not too worried about Gobert's offensive game because the rest of our team is so versatile. If GS goes small, that's fine, we matchup great:

Exum
Burks
Hood
Hayward
Gobert

If a team goes big, that's fine, we'll go big:

Exum
Hayward
Hood
Favors
Gobert

We have a very, very good base here. Gobert's offense is just sprinkles on the icing on the cake.

What is the world coming to? Had to rep both framer and Franklin in the same thread. Officially the first day of summer. Draft can't get here soon enough.

Great posts by both guys. Rudy needs to lean to comfortably take that shot, and Exum to Gobert is going to be fun as Hell on P&R. Hopefully two future stars in the making.

Teams will be trying small ball against us out of desperation, but they will have little success. We will lose a few games when somebody has a night where they hit everything, but small ball is not going to beat us consistently, even if Rudy never develops a postgame. Count me in with those who ain't scared.
