I just saw this movie for the first time. Uppam is a true American hero. Why isn't he talked about as the greatest/most admirable fictional character in American cinema more often? He had true courage and heart.

I think this dude already has more threads about him (one) than anyone else.

I wasn't asking about why he isn't talked about on here more often, I meant in general...
 
Someone mentioned to me they prefer Shaving Ryan's Privates better.
 
I don't mean no offense to Americans or anything, but I grow nauseous of seeing movies on certain war efforts that picturize things one-sided and try to emphasize heroes out of it. That's why I usually skip PC games that gives you the sole role of an American soldier or movies that pumps the heroicness of an American soldier. The time we are living in is late enough for us to realize that there is nothing heroic about war. It takes lives from our beloved no matter which side we are on for the sake of more macro concepts that drag us into it. I'm not saying don't fight to defend yourself, but war is not usually self-defense. People who have seen war try anything to avoid it. People who had not seen war try to start one to ensure their trembling power. Saving Private Ryan is a good movie that creates the vibe of the Normandia very realistically. But I put Enemy At the Gates was a lot more realistic for example to show the ****edupness at Stalingrad. And the sex scene that Jude Law covered the woman's mouth to keep it quiet as she had reached the climax was one of the best sex scenes I have watched in a movie. If a movie nails the job, you'll know it. For an American movie that gives you a target practice against Nazi soldiers, I prefer a movie that has the intelligent humor into it more like a Inglorious ********. It gives you the feeling that the most you can say about senseless destruction is it can at most be senselessly funny. Even to die in a ****edup way. That is the psychology of a soldier caught up in action. A bit of insanity added to it. He starts to make fun of the absolute mess he is in because the brain cannot bare to comprehend it normally anymore.
 
American Sniper is one of those movies where it comes off to me as a propaganda film (kinda like the Nazi one in Inglorious ********) that was there to soak up some money during a dry movie spell. The movie had *somewhat* deep character construct but managed to lose sight of it with obviously targeted action scenes.
