Should Dennis Lindsey Get a Championship Ring?

I knew this thread would pop up... so appropriate that Cy started it.

Okay let's go back and undo the past... great now GS has Hood and Cleveland won the championship... u happy now?

I understand the butterfly effect changes things a bit, but really that trade turned out pretty well for us and we haven't even used the other pick yet. Those of you saying we shouldn't have helped another team out are likely not business majors. We helped someone out and gained because of it... guess what? Now we have a good relationship with another GM... maybe its goodwill like that that allows us to maybe pull off other deals like when we got Gobert. I know the order of how things happened, but if we were constantly dicks and not doing reasonable things to help others out we likely don't get those other types of deals done.

We have to look out for ourselves... and sometimes that requires helping others out.

Dude, it was just meant to be a funny thread. I don't care who wins it, and I don't blame anyone for the trade. Just thought it was a funny tidbit that we helped get the Finals MVP. They lose without Igoudala's defense on Lebron.

You started the ball rolling for the whiners... thats all. Rest of the post wasn't directed at you... it was just a funny tidbit that you started it.

We want GS to be bad in 2017 not 2016 guys.. they can be good next year, but during 2017 we putting the curse of the churro on does bitches.

We would still have Hood. The deal originally didn't include Iguodala or Foye. Those were initially supposed to be two separate deals that later amalgamated. The question is really should we have traded Foye for a second round pick? The answer to that question is no.

Why not... we go a trade exception and a 2nd round pick and built some social capital with two teams. Plus we dumped Randy Foye on Denver... that signing really hasn't worked out that well for them.

Sometimes you are the man and sometimes you are the wing man, but it never pays to be the **** blocker... everyone hates that douche.

I think you mean that we want Golden State to be bad in 2016, so we get a really good draft pick in the 2017 draft.

We don't have their pick next year... I meant what I said. We have their pick in two years... thats when I want them to be bad.

You're right. And when GSW tossed a season that screwed us over, then they played the role of being **** blockers, whatever that means. Rewarding them with the enabling of landing Iguodala sends the messages to them that it does pay to be the **** blocker.

Not to change the subject, but they would have found a way to get rid of those guys without us... other teams likely would have taken those assets and played the role of facilitator. Maybe they did us a solid by using us... Maybe it was tank guilt.

I just don't think we should look back in anger at that move. We got a very good player and a host of picks... was likely we weren't going to do any better with our excess cap space.

No need for us to be a dick at that point when we were getting a fair return for our assets regardless of their underhanded tanking.

I'd have done the deal with Denver about a week after the Warriors were forced to sign Iguadola outright with cap space. Don't need to endear any goodwill with Golden State. We were doing them enough of a favor by taking Jefferson/Biedrins/Rush.

From Grantland

As Myers worked the phones for nearly three straight nights and days, searching for a dumping ground, team owner Joe Lacob retreated to his vacation home in Montana. When he was there, Lacob had a habit of leaving his phone behind, or wandering into areas where he had no reception. Myers told Kirk Lacob to accompany his father and plant himself in a spot with good reception; he would need ownership approval for any deal, and he might not have time to wait. Kirk Lacob spent most of three days sitting on a patio.

Finally, his phone rang. It was Myers, panicked. He couldn’t reach Joe Lacob. Kirk didn’t know exactly where his father was. Myers had a deal with the Jazz, but they were squeezing him. He couldn’t get any protection on the two first-round picks they were demanding, and they asked him to toss in another two second-rounders. Worse yet: They wanted cash — all $3 million the Warriors were allowed to include in a deal. That was Joe Lacob’s money, and Myers needed to know if he could spend it without getting himself fired.

Kirk Lacob told him to go ahead: “I don’t know where my Dad is,” Lacob told Myers, “but he told me to get the deal done, so if it takes cash, throw in everything we have.” Myers asked if he was sure. Lacob was, and Iguodala became a Warrior.

No one has mentioned the other iterations of the trade. IIRC, Utah wasn't yet at the salary floor, so most of that would would have been spent on other FA's or doled out as bonuses to existing players. But the #1 goal was to suck and get a top pick. Mission Accomplished with DL trading for that trio. And Corbin further helped by playing RJ so much . Jefferson was one of the worst defenders at his position. So Utah would have spent the majority of those salaries one way or the other. DL weakens the bench (and we end up with Dante) PLUS he gets additional assets. FANTASTIC trade for Utah. Oh yeah, he also gives Corbin the noose to hang himself with. WIN! WIN! WIN!

Look at it this way. . . the Warriors gave the Jazz a boatload of assets. Great. But a month previously, the Utah Jazz, in a previously unprecedented move - opted to BUY a pick in the draft for Gobert. I'm assuming that in making this decision, that Lindsey was planning to leverage cap space to get that cash back for the Miller's to okay that deal.

It makes it easier to digest when you consider that the Warriors desperation helped to subsidize the Jazz draft-day acquisition of Rudy Gobert.

So DL does deserve a ring in the mail?

Gm's shouldn't get Championship Rings. They should get Gold Stars.
