Trey Burke's best value is as a trade asset in the draft before his value plummets to Kanter levels. If moving Burke helps them move up a little in the draft and free up cap space to chase a free agent, then I'm all for it.

Give me Myles Turner and enough cap space to sign DeMarre Carroll and it's worth risking that he turns the corner elsewhere.

He's never going to get bigger ,more explosive ,or quicker and this is going to continuously lead to the same results.

And the thing that always pissed me off the most ...was how bad he was in defense at the top of the key, Kanter was a poor defender but Trey Burke was a major cause and effect to Kanter taking sole blame by the fanz for the Jazz defense .....whereas I always saw Burkes assignment attacking Kanter after blowing by the stuck in mud defense of Trey Burke

His athleticism has not hurt him, he was able to get into the paint just fine at the end of the season. He struggled to finish fairly easy layups. Plenty of pgs are his size and athleticims that do just fine. If he starts making his three with consistency and finishing the easy shots he will be fine. His defense was also greatly improved at the end of last season.

I'd say his trade value is considerably lower than Kanter's already. If he has a future in Utah, it's as backup for no more than 15 minutes a game. If his role is any bigger than that, he should replaced.

If Exum improves his offense at all, he needs to be taking more of trey's minutes. Those jazz fans who believe Burke is going to break out are betting on the wrong horse.

My hope is that Burke improves his shooting, decision making and defensive abilities. My expectations is that his shooting continues to be lackluster and incredibly streaky. Prove me wrong, Burke. Make the haters scramble to find something to hate about your game. Help us make this team even more successful than we were last year!

This is about as fair of a critical analysis that you will get of Burke. All the three things you listed are the three things you expect young players(especially guys with Burke's worth ethic) to improve on. Which is why I think it's crazy when fans here suggest he's hit some type of development wall after 2 seasons at the ripe ole age of 22.

So basically if Burke improves on literally everything you ask of a basketball player. Shows you how far away he is really.

Name me a quality player that hasn't improved on any of those three things? Literally ever player in the league has had to get better at those three things. Why is it so unbelievable to assume Burke doesn't improve? He's already gotten better defensively from his rookie season.

It isn't that he will not improve it is that he will not improve enough. He needs immense improvement in all those areas.
